I’ve been looking more closely at a lot of Liberal Arts schools recently and am leaning towards them over bigger schools. Looking at Amherst College, I was drawn in by the 5 College Consortium. I was wondering if anyone has put classes at the other 4 schools to use? I see that Amherst’s website says that business classes do not count as any credit. Has anyone gotten around that?
Probably not. Bucknell is an excellent LAC with a similarly excellent business program.
Lehigh isn’t technically an LAC but feels a lot like one. Excellent business program as well.
I visited my kid for parent weekend and attended her Spanish class with her. About 1/3 of the class were students from the other colleges. So kids definitely take advantage of the consortium, but obviously kids take most classes on their own campus.
Students get free bus service to all the other schools (and shopping, the towns, etc.)
Srudents who attend Amherst or a few other liberal arts colleges (Hamilton, Williams, Wellesley, Grinnell, Carleton) have the option of enrolling in an online certificate program offered by Harvard Business School, should that be of interest to you.
