Longest day of the year. Summer solstice is 6/21.
There’s a popular YA book series called the raven cycle in which the time 6:21 is very important… maybe someone at admissions is a fan
6:21 is 1821 in 24 hour time, and that is when Amherst was founded.
My FinancialAid portal has so many tildes. I know this was a big deal last year and it didn’t come to mean anything but it has made me so anxious
wow u guys really know ur 6:21 trivia
my financial aid also has many random tildes
My D has this message in her Financial Aid “We look forward to working with you and your family during your time at Amherst! If you have questions about your financial aid award, please be in contact with our office. The Office of Financial Aid” Does this mean anything?
@turbosimon I have the same thing! I’ll check the early decision thread, but I’m not going to hold my breath since this is a big reach school
My S19s portal says that too. Has for months. Unfortunate wording but I don’t think it means anything.
@homerdog I guess we will have to wait until tomorrow to find out. My D is already accepted Pomona but Amherst could be a better school for her.
The anticipation is really building up now to decision time. Too bad my D is involved in an event and probably won’t find out until near 11 PM tonight. The event starts at 7, but we don’t want to risk dampening the mood by checking just before.
I’ve been logging onto my portal even though I know decisions won’t come out until 6:21…reread my supplemental essay three times and now I’m just ready to get this over with
Is anyone getting an error message when you try to log in to your financial aid?
@bigchungus785 yes!
Thank goodness, I though it might be a sign of rejection @tea144
haha it might be a sign. i think the financial aid portal might be down for everyone. that said, i did write my supplements at night and turned in my app after midnight so I don’t have high hopes.
Apparently the 1821 guess was correct

Just joining this thread as the time draws near. S19 applied as a reach school. Stats: 36 ACT, 1560 SAT. GPA 4.0 uw at a competitive private school. 11 APs with 4s and 5s. Leadership and service strong. ECs just ok due to competitive rower all 4 years with 6 day/wk 11 mos/yr practice. NMF. Intended concentration/major astrophysics. Have not visited Amherst yet as he applied to 12 schools so we had to pick and choose with his rowing schedule. HS counselor flagged it as a possible good fit. Accepted to 3 state schools with $, accepted to trinity and Boston college, rejected at MIT, waitlisted at UChicago, deferred SCEA to Harvard. Know his chances are not great for Amherst but hoping for good news tonight. Love the 6:21/1821 quirky thing. Right up his alley. Good luck everyone!!! Sending good vibes to all!
