@BruiserBrigade What??? Was this an early acceptance?
@BruiserBrigade Firstly, congratulations! That’s super exciting. Will you be committing to Amherst?
I didn’t realize that they’d be sending out admittances already, though, so that is a bit surprising. Would you mind describing what happened and what you saw? Did they send you another email after the one that was already sent about the admissions timeline telling you to check your portal? Or was it just that one admissions timeline email and then you happened to check your portal?
Haha sorry for so many questions! Not trying to grill you, just trying to understand.
Seriously, though, congratulations! Super exciting.
I received a fairly standard email indicating there has been an application status update. From there I could view the update in the portal, which contained my acceptance letter.
And I am still undecided but leaning towards Pomona currently as I was also accepted there as a transfer. It will definitely be a hard decision to make!
@BruiserBrigade Congratulations on your acceptances!
Are you transferring from a CC or a big university?
Also, when do you receive the acceptance letter?
@baalayien I have asked the coordinator for international recruitment and he told me that, typically, the international transfer student admission rate is about 2%.
@yypfalllaan Let’s hope we’re part of that 2% this year!
@BruiserBrigade Congratulations!
Hey @BruiserBrigade Congrats!! When did you apply?
Have any of you heard back from Amherst?
@yypfalllaan Nope! Haven’t heard back from most schools yet.
Hi all! I’m late to the party, but I’m applying as a transfer too.

be my English teacher at college and also one from my guidance counselor who I also took a pers. development
class with, both know me and my experience and work very well.
~Additional rec. letter: I also got an additional rec. letter from my other employer (the City manager), I read this
particular letter and it was super nice and very positive.
~Submited a résumé for work + theater so that schools could get a better sense of the breadth of my theater exp.

I am so excited for all of us. In general, this is just such an exciting/heart wrenching/beautiful/terrible time to be alive. GL to all!
Hello everyone! @AGoodFloridian you really are everywhere on CC lol!!! How is the college process going for you? Have you been accepted anywhere?
And I have also applied to Amherst. I’m currently at a CC. I have a 3.69 GPA at the moment which isn’t too great. I used to have close to a 3.9 last fall but one class–literally ONE class-dropped it to around a 3.66 (it was a C++ coding class, which I thought wouldn’t be too bad, but oh was it bad. I ended up getting a C. And considering the fact I will be a sociology–hopefully political science double major–my brain does not function like cs students lol). And I also began working full time too during that semester I took the C++ class. I love that I get one C and my GPA drops 0.3 points, then I get all A’s the next semester and it goes up 0.03. Go figure.
I still currently work and intern 30-40 hours a week, so I hope Amherst considers the fact that I practically have no free time and have been working hard to survive and get into Amherst!
@hopeful112 Hey there! I got my first acceptance in over three years, so that’s a reassuring thing hahaha- hard work and an unhealthy amount of obsession (or determination, whatever angle you want to look at it) definitely helped. Got into Rice the other day, one of my top choices, so I’m super thrilled. Got a few more college decisions coming up, so these are exciting times.
Amherst has a tradition of taking in nontraditional students- and many of those work full time for whatever reason, so your circumstances aren’t too uncommon and won’t jeopardize you in any way.
@AGoodFloridian That’s awesome I’m happy for you!! And yes Amherst considers CC students over transfers from top LACs or Ivy leagues, which is great! Crossing my fingers.
Please tell me i’m not the only one trembling at every email they get
@baalayien Haha, no! I feel like I’m a ball of nerves too!
@Lalabunny Yay! Decisions came out on the 5th last year. Can’t even think straight anymore!!
@baalayien Oh really? Are you excited?
Hey guys, did you all get the May 11th email? Also, do you think if we don’t get a status update before that day, it means we are rejected?
@Lalabunny I’m just very nervous because I’ve wanted this for a very long time hahaha. Have you applied elsewhere?
@jerrythemouse I went through previous threads and it seems like everyone gets a status update. Not sure though. I’m assuming they communicate a rejection somehow though.
