where did this 10th come from?
we heard where maybe the 13th may have come from... but the 10th? what did i miss?

I believe the 10th was a rumor about the other Ivies. I don't think its ever been applied to Yale.

okay, thats what i thought, but i wasnt sure with all this talk . thanks

Columbia emails them to you I think..

email! thats cruel...

I'd be surprised if Yale posted the decisions before the 15th because it would set a precedent that their dates are random

why is email cruel?

I wonder what the subject line says - your rejection......

what if you dont want to know? can you imagine being rejected in an email? youre not expecting to see it pop up.... and BAM... crushed dreams
what if you want to wait for the envelope?

I guess you dont have to open the email...I'm sure its just a general subject.

Yeah, it is a general subject.

at our school we have a wall of rejection. Everyone posts his rejection letters on the bulletin board by the cafeteria..... by the end of the year it's covered with rejection letters even from the best students....it adds an element of humor to break the pain

Aaaaah andi, that's sadly humorous...sadly :(

yeah, it is sad, but if you have to be rejected at least you have good company.

Good point...but still, aaaaah :(

andi, that's awesome! I wish I went to your school!

it's not like an official bulletin board with everyone's letters neatly arranged so as to embarrass anyone. It's just something that got started with kids tacking their letters all over the board. I think everyone felt that although rejections were hugely painful and disappointing, that they weren't something to ba ashamed of. That basically everyone is in the same boat.
Actually, last year one kid played a joke where he copied a letter leaving only the college's letterhead. Then he wrote this really crazy letter on it so it looked like it had come from the school, and just mixed it casually in with the other letters. It said things like 'why did you ever think we'd want you here, you should be flipping burgers somewhere ......'

Now that I think about it, that seems like a really nice idea. Maybe I'll spark a trend in my school... (blecchh that sounded overly pessimistic!)

you won't need to --- you're going to get IN!

haha I remember them doing that when I was a freshman, but not since then.
