An Enrollment Message from our Dean

there is little to no chance that there will be triples in sue b. it’s just not physically possible. reslife converted the floor lounges to quads a few years back, but that was a complete disaster and i don’t think that will happen again.

there were much fewer dlion’s hired for sue b this year, though so i assume there’s a few more singles on each hall open. with danforth and the corner store right under sue b now, i guess it’s a much more appealing place to live in. however the quad boasts bigger rooms, and more kitchen/lounge areas.

again, quad rooms are much larger than sue b’s so they will likely be the triples. i lived in the second largest room in gilbert, and girls next to me had the largest, but we were both surprisingly doubles. there were two triples on our hall in smaller rooms, so i have no idea how they are assigned. there’s also the consideration that lovejoy, which is currently upperclassmen quad housing, is being converted to freshmen (not sure if all or partial), since obrien was built. it’s around the same size as tiernan or bigger (# of room-wise), but it’s the most recently renovated. there were a lot of openings in upperclassmen housing this year since many people opted to live off campus, so i think there is a chance that there won’t need to be too many triples if lovejoy has enough space.

it’s important that everyone in the triple agree to have their bed lofted in some way, so at least the desk or drawers can fit under the bed, or else it will be very cramped (it’s the default for all triples anyway). the only advice i can give is to arrive early, and then you’ll get to pick the side/area of your room. international students arrive a day earlier though, so they’ll always get first pick (that was the case for my friend in a triple).

i also wanted to add that even if you pick coed by hall (i lived on all girl hall), every hall is paired with a brother hall, so you’ll still meet other people. some coed by room halls are rather awkward since the bathroom you need might be past the lounge, in the opposite hall, which ive seen happen in tiernan.

Thanks for the info ohhowrandom.

Thanks for the article! So we are gonna see another 100 Chinese students this year, cool~
