An essay about tough childhood?

What do you guys think, how would it look like if write an essay about my childhood which wasn't a piece of cake for me? Is it a common topic?

You need to show character development coming out of that tough childhood…

First paragraph: Description of a situation that tested you or presented a challenge in some way that you were unsure of the outcome.

Last paragraph: Description of a situation showing the “changed you.” How you are NOW handling a similar situation as a stronger, wiser person.

Middle paragraphs: Scenes showing stages in the transition.

THEN it might work. The key is to not TELL the reader what they should think of you or what you explicitly want them to know… let them DISCOVER that you are a stronger person from having come through that.

bump again

Well, consider this. Alongside with you there will be many kids from places that are way worse to spend a childhood in than anything post-sovietic. Was your childhood really tough, or was it tough for you? I do not mean to offend you or anything, I mean to ask you to make sure you won’t come off whining :)

My possible essay isn’t about tough Russian life, but about how my father maltreated me and my mom during my childhood and then I was thinking about writing how I haven’t lived with my mom since 13 (I live with grandma) and stuff like that.

Just make sure you don’t sound whiny and talk of how did it make you a better person. No hyppocritic crap, though :)

Thanks, these are my priorities :)

Hey, authorise me at skype, will you? ^^
