<p>The article is brilliant, its author, more. Everybody associated, in the slightest way, with the Indian education system must take a look at this.</p>
<p>Read it yesterday, and boom, today I find that it has been published in TOI. The article was very structured, and extremely well-explained. Any Indian on these boards should read it.</p>
<p>The article was pretty mind-blowing. I just have to point out, though, that 10th and 12th grade exams are quite important, so giving students grace marks is not necessarily a bad thing. If they’re close enough to the pass mark, that is. The fact that practically everything above 23 was converted to a pass for ISC is outrageous.</p>
<p>Can’t wait for a similar article about CBSE.</p>

<p>Honestly, the problem ain’t that CISCE decided to follow a weird method of gradation. The problem is that CISCE has never come explained the marking procedure it follows.</p>
<p>And of course, the fact that they released results to 3rd party sites without ensuring these sites had the necessary safe-guards in place was the biggest blunder they could make!!</p>
<p>I strongly hope and believe that the time has come for sweeping reforms as far as the Indian education system is concerned. While all focus is on improving the state of higher education in the country, I think the government needs to look into the dismal state of school education.</p>
<p>I agree with rishav and nikhil. One thing clicks is that those certain marks are missing in all subjects, which raises the question that whether the paper were even graded at all, or were the marks spit out at random by a software. </p>
<p>If it is the latter, which is likely, then it can jeopardise all of CISCE’s credibility. It is one thing to increase those marks which are close to getting a better score, but it is totally another thing that those certain marks are missing exactly same in every subject.</p>
<p>Just want to throw in one more fact here.</p>
<p>There is huge difference between the number of students appearing for class 12 for these different boards, CBSE and ICSE. And apart from these we also have State Board Examinations for Class 12. And then there is IB, which has an external assessment.</p>
<p>So the number and findings in the link is limited to a very small number of students appearing for class 12 examination.</p>

<p>So whatever findings and observations are in the article in the link, pertain to a very small number and cannot be seen as the pattern to follow for all class 12 students taking different board exams at national and state level.</p>
<p>I would also like to add that while the Indian education system is not perfect and can do better with many reforms.</p>
<p>it is also a fact that the strength of the system is reflected in over a lakh students going to countries and universities all over the world to pursue undergrad and postgraduate studies. And most of these are highly competitive candidates, who end up being successful professionals as well.</p>
<p>So there is something that our education system is doing right.</p>
<p>And many more who stay back and are equally successful and hardworking professionals in every sphere and who are equal participants and contributors in India’s great economic story in just 60 years of Independence. They are all a product of this education system. So I would read an article on our education system with that pride in the background and still humbly accept that there is lot that needs to be done to better it.</p>
