An international who wants to know his chances ..

Hi guys, I’m from an arab country too. Applying to harvard, yale princeton penn mit and nyu. should I panic if I accidentally left one word one my submitted college essay? instead of “from the previous century, until present.” i wrote “from the previous century, until”
Until present was supposed to be the end of a paragraph, but I accidentally submitted it as until without even a dot at the end of the sentence. i would appreciate ur opinions!!

Moreover, for most colleges, I don’t think the same adcom who reviews apps from Asia will review apps from somewhere else, adcoms are well acquainted with that difference in levels of education.

@Rustom : I studied for it during the summer as well. I took it in June and i got a 1680, and i took it again in october and that’s when I got 2110. Well I hope you get in to you dreams’ college bro, and congrats on your SAT :)

You look legit man.

Thanks Intemister :)

@bikistroi: I’d say email your admission counselor and explain everything. I wouldn’t panic though :)

XCherry, i guess that’s one way of looking at it. But this is my field. I spent a decade as a member of 2 ivy admissions committees and another decade advising students at an ivy feeder school with lots of intnls. It’s just the facts and they’re unfortunately not want many want to hear. My view is better now than in May with few options.

@Waverly: Just out of curiosity, which two ivies were you an adcom at?

@Molectron: I couldn’t take the one in June, Since I was taking SAT IIs at the one
Scored 600/800 on the Literature Subjective Test ^_^

Man, I dream of getting a 2k+, but I know that’s not possible
So I’m working on a machine, which transports me to an alternate universe in which I’m able to achieve 2000+ with ease…One can dream right :stuck_out_tongue: ?

@Bikistroi10: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Penn, MIT, NYU…I REALLY admire your choice of colleges. hope you have a strong application to go with that ^_^

Don’t sweat over it man, email your school/admission counselor, and explain everything to him/her, hopefully he/she will understand ^_^

@Waverly : Well it’s great to know that, you’re absolutely right.

@Rustom: That’s awesome man !! Where have you applied, if you don’t mind me asking ??

My list is inconsistent (this isn’t the final cut :p), but as of right now it’s

-University of Tampa
-University of Houston
-Cal State Uni - LA Campus
-University of Wichita (Safety School) ^_^

I think UChicago and Cornell might be a reach for you.
Your app looks pretty good, but make sure to have some safety schools.

@Molectron @RustomD Thanks guys! I think the best choice is as you said, contacting the admissions counselor! As far as Molectron’s app, i think you have great chances for all the universities you chose. But in case, you might want to consider also applying to a safety school. As far as me, I am just 14 years old. However, I’m a senior, who has won multiple Model UN Conferences, and a gold medal at an International Olympiad for getting electricity from mud. I scored 2340 on my SAT, and my college essay was good, except for that small error. So i decided to apply to top schools, but I still had a bit of fear. So last night I also sent my application to Stony Brook, which is my safety school. The privilege of safety schools is that theres almost a perfect chance of you getting there, so it also adds positive emotions to the applicant too. I want to wish good luck to you Molectron, I am a citizen of Jordan who has been living in America for 3 years. Insha’Allah we will all get it!!! :D

I thought of a safety school, and that’s why I applied to Lehigh University. This is my final list of schools : UChicago, Williams, Vanderbilt, and Lehigh.

@Bikistroi: Insha’Allah ya rab :)

Hopefully you get in! let us know how it goes.

Thank you Academicone  Will do !!

Accepted at Williams, Waitlisted at UChicago, rejected from Lehigh and Vanderbilt, mostly due to my financial need ( At least that’s what they said ).

Congratulations on the William acceptance. It’s kind of disappointing that you need financial aid to attend. If you didn’t need aid, I think you could have gotten accepted at most schools. Did you get a good offer from Williams?

I haven’t received the package, but they said I’d get it along with the acceptance letter.
And yeah I think you’re right, both Lehigh and Vanderbilt told me they couldn’t offer me admission because of my financial need. Williams is great though, and depending on the financial package, I think that’s where I’m going :D
