An odd question...

If I am a nonscience major, and plan on applying to medical schools, what research opportunities are open to me? Can I do research with only the premed requisites? If I am an accounting major, and plan on applying to medical school, what extracurricular activities should I consider participating in? Do extracurricular activities help me in getting accepted to medical schools, and if they do, how much of a difference will the make to help me get accepted? When applying to college as an undergraduate student, extracurriculars can help your application significantly. Is this also true with medical school?

thanks

Extracurriculars are crucial/mandatory for admissions into medical school. a 3.9, 41 with no extracurriculars will get in somewhere, but not to the top several schools (which he'd otherwise have a good shot at).

Does this mean that doing some research and volunteering would cut it? Or would you have to join clubs, get leadership positions, etc.?

You need research and clinical experience - and trust me, it'd be far easier to just join clubs and get "leadership" positions.
