Analytical Chem Grad School Odds

Hello all!

I'm currently looking for some advice from you guys. I'm at the point where I need to start narrowing down where I plan to apply. With the following credentials, what do you guys think my odds are for getting into certain programs (also following!)? PhD program BTW!

GPA: 3.96/4.0 @ a small liberal arts college in south central MN

GRE: 153V/159Q/4AW

Chem GRE: Have not taken yet, Oct 19

Research: Spent summer @ Northwestern synthesizing nanoparticles (REU Program), Will have 1 full year of "in-semester" research once I graduate.

I'll have 2 solid letters from research advisors and a letter from past chem professor.

Schools I plan on applying to:

University of Minnesota
University of Illinois, Urbana
Purdue
UW Madison
Iowa State
UNC Chapel Hill
Indiana U

What do you guys think? Thanks!!

We can’t tell you your odds.

You have a good solid application package (maybe slightly below-average amount of research experience). You’re qualified for admission to doctoral programs, and applicant similar to you have probably been admitted to the programs you’re applying to in prior years.

However, you’ll be competing with other applicants who are just as good as you, and PhD programs turn away many qualified applicants every year.

It would be wise to apply to at least one less competitive program where you would be one of the too applicants and possibly eligible for a fellowship.
