Ok, so this is going to sound really dumb but nobody qualifies for pell grants in my neighborhood, so I need to ask. Do you automatically get the Pell grant if you qualify for them? According to the chart, I get $5300. Will I automatically get this or is this just the max I can get? And is it that amount of aid per year or per semester.
Lol, sorry I’m clueless about this.

Is your EFC between 1-100? If so you should get the Pell of $5300. That is for a year.

I am actually kind of amazed they have the table out so soon after finalizing the Pell amounts.

Yeah, my EFC is 10. Thanks swim!

Whoo Hoo. My EFC is 4124 so I qualify!

Does this also mean I can now qualify for the additional grant for those who took a rigorous HS courseload? Whatever they call it?

Academic Competitiveness Grant, 750 Freshman, 1300 Sophomore

Great. Every little bit helps!

We just got the Financial Aid offer letter from DD’s intended university, and it has the Pell Grant listed as $1781/yr. Our EFC is 2939, so according to the listing, we should be getting $2400/yr. Is this something the FA dept will automatically change, or should we contact the FA dept.?

They should automatically change it. The new table was only issued this week so they had to go by last years tables. If they do not change it as fall approaches then contact them. They are probably already pulling their hair out with hundreds of awards to have to redo.

Thanks for the table.

It will be changed automatically. Some of your other awards may also change - you may have less “need” for other grants/loans as a result in the change in Pell. In other words, don’t count on the increase actually BEING an increase in the overall award package. It may be, but it may not be.

Ugh…my EFC is 5215. No Pell Grant for me :(
