I was looking at the amended version of the 2009 recovery act and it includes a section about the Pell grant.

Of course the act has to pass. Plus I have seen numbers in previously passed bills and acts that say one thing then end up not being what actually gets budgeted for the Pell (the 2008-2009 maximum was supposedly going to be $4800 but in reality ended up as $4731).

I imagine financial aid officers are wishing they would announce what it is actually going to be pretty soon.

swimcatsmom: i have just posted a similar queston to forum members a moment ago. i have heard $5250 or thereabouts as the maximum amount but that may change.

i suggest that we should look at the senate.gov site. they should have a summary of the agreement that both the republicans and the democrats have reached last night as regards to the economic stimulus situation (and the pell grant, of course).

of course your info might be much better than mine though...

now i have read a news report that says the maximum pell might be $500 more that the current maximum.

go figure......

i guess we will have to wait and see what the grumpy senate does on monday or tuesday when they vote (after which it goes to conference and then BACK to both house and senate for a final vote!).

i wish they would hurry up....the suspense is killing FAA's everywhere!!

I am beginning to find the machinations around the pell quite bizarre. In the whatever act in 2007 they increased it to $4800 but then only funded it at $4731. In the act in 2008 the increased the maximum by quite a bit butnow it as if that never happened.
