Upon reviewing animation programs, they seem to fall under three general categories - those based in (1) art school (CaliArt, RISD, SVA, ArtCenter, SCAD, Ringling, MICA, Pratt, SIAC, MCAD, etc.), (2) film/cinema school (USC, UCLA, BYU, DePaul), or (3) technology/computer school (Penn, CMU, RIT, Purdue). Ultimately, a student’s choice would depend on the individual, temperament, career objectives, etc. Are there general thoughts on the pros and cons of these seemingly distinctive categories of animation programs?
