How long does it usually take to heal ?

I sprained mine warming up for soccer - how crap is that? It took two or three days for the swelling to go down and I could stop wearing the bandage. But I sprained it ten hours before I got on a twelve-hour flight so the flight might've done some weird things to my ankle... I do tae kwon do, and it took another couple of months after that for me to be able to do my kicks and jumps properly. My ankle is still weak.

I hate this. I was making a sliding tackle and my ankle bent over. Do you think I will miss the whole season ??

Ah, that sucks! I can't remember what I was doing... I think I was just dribbling and suddenly, my ankle crunched. Should've seen the look on my coach's face when he ran out to start drills and saw me on the ground!

I think as long as you put an ice pack on it RIGHT after you sprained it, you should be okay. Make sure the bandage is tight and secure (but not too tight) and well, I don't know how long you should keep off the ankle... Some people tell you to rest it, but some people tell you to walk on it a bit. I guess it depends on how bad the sprain is. I tried googling recovery time and it says 3-4 months?! :(

So I will miss the whole season ??

i would stay off it for a couple days and then talk to the trainer. you could just get it taped and take advil before games. i've done that before

Does it work ??

well i mean it doesnt feel great but as long as you get a good tape job it gives it more stability. its still gonna hurt and its probably not good for it..but i sprained my ankle 2 practices before our state final match so it was just a quick fix. i dont know if i would do it really early in the season, but then again mine was a pretty bad sprain
