Another Pell Grant question

Actually, two questions-
Can I expect the Pell Grant amount listed on my EFC to be what we will actually get?
Does a FAFSA or CSS school make any difference for the Pell Grant award my EFC shows?

Pell eligibility is determined using the FAFSA generated EFC, even at a Profile school. Your Pell award will stay the same ASSUMING you are not verified & if you are verified the result is not a change in EFC. However … the federal government may change the Pell grant amounts for 11-12. If this happens, your Pell amount could change. Last year, schools had to repackage people because the Pell grant amounts changed after many schools began initial packaging for 10-11.

You should also be aware that the semester amount you see for Pell assumes you will be enrolled in at least 12 credits. If you have fewer than 12 credits, your Pell payment for that term will be less.

Okay. We were chosen for verification and most of the schools have asked for forms. How will I know if the EFC has changed? Will they just wait and show it in the financial package that arrives with the admission letters? lol

we were also chosen for verification … i’ve already sent in all tax forms but got a estimate letter for Suny New Paltz today … it says actual financial award letters won’t go out until AFTER you confirm attendance at the school. What if things change significantly? I’m worried.

fyi - our fafsa said

Pell Grant Estimate - $4,000.00 and we got $3700 – at least according to the preliminary estimate letter.

Thanks for sharing. I am so curious about this whole process. Trying to just sit and wait, but that’s not working. lol
