I ma an international student. I have finally decided that I want to head to the US for my Undergrad education =D.

My parents want me to go to Purdue University since it is cheaper than the other universities that I have been accepted to - Mainly- Illinoi, Texas and Michigan.

Since Michigan is the highest ranked from the ones I have been accepted to.

My major is Mechanical engineering.

If I go to Purdue, I save about 35K at the end of 4 years Which I can use for Grad school. But in case of Michigan, No savings.

Please tell which University I should be attending and Why.

All are great choices from Illinois being one of the worlds best schools to study engineering, UMich great engineering programs and Purdue which is 34k cheaper. Its best to attend Purdue.

Purdue is also great for engineering. I think you should go there and save the money.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Any more ??. BUMP

I am not knowledgeable about the details of the schools that you mentioned other than knowing they all are well regarded in engineering.

whoa, any college in this top most list here, is just about the same

[Mechanical - Best Engineering Schools - Graduate Schools - Education - US News and World Report](http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-engineering-schools/mechanical-engineering)

At the end, you’ll have a degree in engineering and have $34k . Sounds like Purdue would be a good choice.

except for texas, all are big schools in the MW, USA; so similar climate, similar ethos. save the dough and have fun in your venture!

Thanks a lot people.

Last Bump.

Any major differences or Advantages that Purdue has ?

^ Yeah, claim to the World’s Largest Bass Drum:
[Purdue University Bands Big Bass Drum](http://www.purdue.edu/bands/aamb/bbd.html)

:)

Better basketball team. Maybe even football.

Michigan has a lot more tradition and is a bigger school; however, it is not worth $34K more than Purdue

Purdue is known for its engineering program but Michigan has a higher ranked engineering program than Purdue. If there is any chance that you will become interested in anything other than engineering your opporunities will be better at Michigan than at Purdue. Michigan is better known internationally than Purdue and Ann Arbor >>>>> West Lafayette.

If you are interested in going to basketball games, Mackey >>>>> Crisler.

Well. Engineering is the only major that I am interested in. I might to a minor in Business with UI-Bloomington (which is possible according to Purdue).

Thanks for the input people. I am open to more suggestions. So pile them up =P
