ANTH 103- Introduction to Human Evolution

Hi all,
I am taking ANTH 103, and our first exam is on Thursday. I am not sure how many of those reading this will have taken the class, but does anyone have any general study tips for either this class, a class similar to this, or really just any in which you did not know what material to study? I am so confused as to what I should be studying and what I should be ignoring; I think this is the most heavy lecture-based class I have ever taken, and I am a little lost because of that. I am trying to think about the “big ideas,” but I am not sure if I am doing so.

Here are a few things you could try:

  1. Make some flash cards for vocabulary terms/words.
  2. If the professor has office hours before Thursday, go to his/her office hours and ask for suggestions on study tips.
  3. Make an outline of the major topics, concepts, etc. from your lecture notes and from the textbook / readings.
  4. Pay close attention to anything from the textbook or readings that the professor discussed in class.
  5. If there have been any quizzes, go over those questions/answers.

@tucsonmom thanks!

Also look at the syllabus and see what topics are supposed to be covered.
Go to your prof’s office hours and talk to him’/her.
Talk to some students in your class and see what they say.
Review your notes from class and see what topics you have covered.
Be familiar with different communities/groups and be able to compare/contrast them.

@bopper thanks!
