I wasn’t able to find any relative at all, and my family has some fairly unusual surnames. However, this could be a very cool opportunity for a student to get involved in a remote EC. They are seeking help from volunteers to transcribe names. I used a random name and state as an example.
It was worse than I could have imagined. Missing family member (Census 1950) in jail for a hideous reason. Poor dad and siblings having to grow up in that small town with that story out there. Uncle all in a dither - wants me to stop my genealogy research. Maybe Uncle isn’t aware that it was only posted in our small private family page. My goodness. Back to posting favorite recipes.
What uncle doesn’t know can’t hurt him.
I found my parents—nothing that I didn’t know. A number of years ago, when I first became interested in genealogy, I did make a very surprising (to me) discovery. Since then, I don’t think there’s much new family information that would surprise me as much as that tidbit!
