Any 2015'ers enjoying college so far? o_O

idk, I'm an African American female attending JHU (not ugly btw..haha) and I've been on the campus since Wednesday. and already, i don't really like the vibe of the school.
1. ALL THE BLACKS BASICALLY STICK TOGETHER! no lie. i come in first day and i'm already surrounded by blacks asking me my name and being my friend. now im part of the black clique.
2. i dont like everyone in the clique. hopkins is a weird place where you feel out of place when you're not white or asian.
3. it's just like EH i'm sick of people already and i havent even been here for a week oO
4 I didnt know that students here considered Hopkins to be subpar to Penn, Cornell etc. I have heard many say "I applied to Hopkins be/c i knew i could get in. I could never get into Upenn etc. ummm my credentials were high enough for Penn, etc but I chose Hopkins
5. so many people are the same major! BME, international studies, neuroscience, biology, writing seminars -- I like to have intelligent conversations and everyone I've spoken to during orientation has just given me small talk. I like the humanities and such and I want to discuss these things.

anyways, have even of you felt like this in the beginning and then regretted that you stayed? i am considering transferring to my other top choices...UPenn and Barnard. Did you make most of your friends during orientation or during classes?

Sorry you feel that way, that’s kind of a bummer.
Do remember that it is early in your experience though, and I’m sure it will get better.

and Hopkins IS better than Penn for some medical related majors, so it all depends what you will be studying.

Just keep trying to meet people and go to all the icebreaker events.
I had a cousin that went to JHU, and he had a great time, so I bet things’ll turn up for you :)

thanks
im in the humanities and thought i’d meet more people like me.
it seems to be dominated by sciencey people… but i just want classes to start already
