Also, I get that a lot of you are saying it would be dumb to go back for a BBA in accounting or finance, but later down the road when I want to do an MBA, wouldn’t that make me more competitive for MBA programs?
Because I get you guys say it is easy to just work for a few years and do MBA, but I want to be a strong applicant for TOP 10-15 MBA schools.
You can’t actually ‘fall back on’ a degree. A professional qualification, such as a CPA does make it easier to find a specific job, but a BBA just ticks a box on an application- your experience will matter more.
45% have an econ/business undergrad degree.
36% have a STEM degree (that’s you)
19% have an arts/humanities degree
What will make you a strong candidate is your work experience, and a clear, strong sense of where you are going and why a [name] MBA is the right fit. And to get that you have to start getting jobs and then keep circling back and re-evaluating the direction you are heading. To be clear, though, it’s not “easy” to do this. Thinking through what fields or roles might be promising for your actual interests and abilities, getting the job, learning and excelling in the job, remembering to reevaluate for course adjustments, making those adjustments as you learn more about yourself, your strengths & weaknesses, your interests and goals- all of that is actually quite hard work.

Thanks for the input. And you’re right, it will be hard work, but pretty much nothing meaningful or fullfilling will ever come in life without hard work.
