<p>I will be trying out for tennis in fall, because I have not played any sports due to lack of transportation. But now, my senior year I will be doing tennis, interact club, high q or debate. I plan on increasing my sat 200-300 points total, with the help of several books and full time commitment.</p>

<p>Overall, I am very dissapointed in my SAT due to my lack of enthusiasm. But will be retaking in October.
Writing: 500
Reading: 510
Math: 540
If my scores are not satisfactory, I will apply regular decision and take SAT for third time.</p>

<p>International Studies is equivilant to IB courses. Our school will be explaining our situation on each transcript.

<p>I have taken or will take every tough AP/IS class possible at my school. I have worked to create a studious reputation in my school, and have always shared my culture with those around me through projects and reports. Hopefully my writing skills will help me formulate an excellent essay.</p>

<p>I am a first generation Indian who is trilingual at least. Learning Spanish in school as a fourth language. I have worked for my parents at their motel and store to earn cash.</p>

<p>Volunteer weekly at my church which is based on the idea: "In the joy of others lies our own."</p>

<p>Could not participate in sports or clubs due to transportation issues, but became more involved once I drove.
I just want to know my chances:</p>

<p>you have a lot going for you. I assume you are IN STATE as you were picked for the Uplift project. I would concentrate more on studying to bring up those SAT's, take the ACT test it is easier and you might do quite well on it....write GREAT essays, edit and have some one read over them foryou and give you some feedback....use the bonus essay question to talk about your life, setbacks, overcoming obstacles---etc. I think your Sat's are really your weak point so PLEASE take the ACT AND study hard for the SAT's....using resources on the web available as well, take practice test that are freely given by companies that sell the courses....Princeton Review and Kaplan to name a few.</p>

<p>ok i agree that you should try to get your scores up but the advice about the act is a little wierd. the act isnt easier than the sat. you are scored compared with the rest of the test-takers, not just on how many questions you get right. just like the SAT, if I remember right. it compares you well to your peers and tests how much you learned in school. the act has a science portion that is non-existent in the SAT, and the reading section turns out to be almost a speed-reading contest anymore, with the majority of students failing to finish the section on time. you might want to take the ACT becuase it is more straight-forward than the SAT, with very little trick questions, but realize that you might not get a better score based on this alone.</p>

<p>You are a long shot with those SAT scores, but if you get your SAT above 1200/1600 then with your other stuff you can consider yourself a member of the UNC class of 2013. Do take the ACT</p>

<p>I could barely manage a 540 on the SAT Math but I managed to do well on the AP Calculus test and in the class.</p>

<p>I don't know how things are at your school but at mine Pre Calc. is just an extension of Algebra and didn't introduce any Calc. topics. If that's the case then what you got in Pre Calc. won't tell you anything about how you'll do in Calc.</p>

<p>Our teacher went through all of the calculus lessons she will be covering senior year just to get us familiar with it. (both precalculus and calculus teacher = same)</p>
