Any college recommendations for Mechanical Engineering?

I already have a list but i feel like i should expand. So can anyone give me some fairly strong colleges? I'm from California and i'm looking for less expensive out of states like 30,000 or less or any privates that give decent chunk of scholarship money.

For my rough stats, it's 2110 SAT, 33 ACT, 3.7 non weighted, 3.93 weighted, Total of 12 APs, including AP physics and excluding Multi-Variable Calculus
I'm looking for schools with a top 100 mechanical engineering program.

Thanks in advance!

GO to the Financial Aid forum and look at the pinned threads. There is a sub-thread there for colleges <$25K. Then match that against the ABET accredited list.

Will you be applying to UCs and CSUs?

Here is the thread referred to in reply #1: <a href=“Links to Popular Threads on Scholarships and Lower-Cost Colleges - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1678964-links-to-popular-threads-on-scholarships-and-lower-cost-colleges.html</a></p>

Yes I am applying to the UCs but i really don’t think i can get into UCB, UCLA, or UCSD and i’m not even certain for UCD or UCI. Nor am I certain i’ll get into SLO.
Thanks for the sub-thread. I checked it out but it’s really hard to find any good mechanical engineering schools on that list. So if there are any you guys just know off the top of your head post please! Thanks

I don’t think MechE undergrads are ranked all the way to 100. I think only grad programs are ranked like that.

However, don’t worry…any College of Engineering that is ranked in the top 150 or so and is ABET accredited will be fine. Heck, the state of Calif has 25 very good Col of Eng’g programs, so certainly the country has over 150!

Anyway…Alabama has very good MechE and with your stats would get free tuition plus 2500 per year. That is assured for your stats and engineering major.

It’s CoE is ranked within the top 100 and it has a new 900,000 square feet state of the art Science and Engineering Complex.

UA’s new state of the art 900,000+ sq ft Science and Education Complex

Apply before the Dec scholarship deadline. If you apply now, you will have your acceptance and scholarship award by about Halloween…yes, that fast. The app takes like 5 minutes…no essays, no LORs…easy peasy.

Here is a video of the gorgeous campus <a href=“The Capstone of Higher Education: Bama by Drone on Vimeo”>http://vimeo.com/104625184</a></p>

I think you should check out some of the smaller Catholic colleges out your way. Here in the east Scranton and Catholic U would very likely bring your costs under 30k but the additional travel costs would probably eat up any savings.

As @mom2collegekids‌ mentioned UA is a great deal. Check out one of their honor rolls. The kids are from all over.

http://automaticfulltuition.yolasite.com/</a> indicates the following full rides for your stats:

Tuskegee
Howard
Louisiana Tech
Prairie View A&M

And the following full tuition scholarships for your stats:

Alabama
Alabama Huntsville
Florida A&M

For competitive full tuition to full ride scholarships, take a look at this list:

Also, check the list of schools with Stamps Foundation scholarships (although not all are full tuition to full ride):

You can include Pomona, Chico, Fresno, Fullerton, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Northridge, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, and San Jose in your CSU list. You can include Merced, Riverside, and Santa Barbara to your UC list. Including some of the less selective CSUs and UCs will minimize the chance of being shut out that can happen if you only apply to Berkeley, Los Angeles, and San Luis Obispo.
