Any current Junior/Seniors care to give some insight on Off-campus housing?

How was your experience, was living off campus a bad/good experience? Did it get annoying having to commute everyday to classes? Any other thoughts on it. Thanks!

It was a lot of fun! I lived with three other girls in a 2br/2ba apartment at La Regencia, just off the shuttle stop. My roommates used that to get to campus, but I drove, since I worked off-campus too. Biking's also a possibility. I liked getting outside of the campus "bubble" and got to see a lot more of San Diego. Are you bringing a car?

yeh i second what premed said!

im a winter admit, and i dont know if i could find a nice cheap place. On the SD website prices range all over the place, from 500 to 1000 to 3000 and I dont know if thats for a one bedroom or a condo, or just a room. Im so lost.

Yeah, Im going to bring a car. Did you feel like you were isolated in your apartment, or was that a mute point b.c you had awesome room mates?

isolated? not at all. i didn't know any of them very well before we moved in together, but in the three-ish months that we were still getting to know each other, i think all of us got good vibes. we ended up together for three years; all of us chose to continue to the MS in our respective fields.

one of the girls i got really close to (not my actual roommate, but lived in the same apartment) was also in the same major as me. it was a big help having her around for homework help or professor bashing. even though we had most of our classes together, there was never an issue of competition between the two of us. (ie, i sucked at ochem but ruled at biochem, she was the opposite, etc)
