Any Football (Soccer) Fans?

Madrid will fizzle out in a few years just like Chelsea is right now (at least in the sense of purchasing players).

Bar

Secret Asian Man: do you have some kind of geographical relation to Tottenham? Cause if you don’t… I can’t imagine how Tottnumb can be anyone’s favorite team. Ever.

And I’m an Arsenal fan ^^

Um…what?

I’m an Arsenal fan myself. They have the best style of play and it’s fun to cheer for the downfall of Man U and Chelsea. Favorite players are Fabregas and van Persie.

Well actually my uncle lives near Highbury so geographical relation has nothing to do with it. Spurs’ style of direct football in the 80s and early 90s is absolutely incredible to watch. We’ve cooled down a bit but we’ll be back next year  Arsenal’s slowly falling out of the big four, if not to Spurs, City and the Toffees are moving up.

I will say though that I’m starting to hate Man U more than Arsenal right now.

because Arsenal = ultimate underdogs

The way the system is set up, no one else has a real chance (besides Liverpool).

A R S E N A L !

My favorite players are RvP, Cesc, Rosicky, and Arshavin.
I hate Senderos… good thing he rarely plays now because he’s better suited for American football with those footskills…

I want to become mega rich and pull an Abramovich with some lower division team.

Let’s go nigeran eagles@#!!!

Wow, this may be the only thread that I don’t ■■■■■ on lol. Yeah, so I’m a die-hard Chelsea fan. My mom was when she was a youngin in London so I guess it’s a family thing. Real are stacked: kaka, Ronaldo, maybe villa, etc it’s kind of ridiculous that they’re spending this much money in times like these. Anyway, my favorite players are: drogba, essien, lampard, cantona, ribery, zidane, Henry, villa, and benzema. I’m an avid fan of both France and the ivory coast. African teams are so exciting to watch. I cannot stand crissy Ronaldo, nor anyone on ManUre with the exception of park.

Despite being a Chelsea fan i have a lot of respect for arsenal. Wenger has taken a team chock full of young players and he’s done such a good job with them. Jack Wiltshire is pure class. However, I cant stand Liverpool.

how old are you? I personally don’t give a **** about the 80s and 90s, I wasn’t even born by that time.

Arsenal are only getting stronger and stronger. We’ve been in transition for wayyyy too long, but unlike these recent seasons, we are gonna be filled with quality, maturity and experience next season because Wenger seems to have finally realized we can’t win silverware with kids and is buying, while the youngsters are growing fast. Now that ManUre are losing CRonaldo and Tevez, I, for the first time in a long time, think we genuinely have a chance next season.

And isn’t that what Tottnumb’s fans have been saying for like 2-3 seasons ^? I remember 2 seasons ago when Martin Jol burnt a ridiculous amount of cash on the likes of Giovanni Dos Santos and Darren Bent, and their fans thought they were gonna displace Arsenal to break into the top 4, only to end up seeing them struggle at the bottom of the table for most of the season lol. Dream on my friend, I hope you guys will continue going far… with Harry Redknapp as manager ;)

I’m 17, thank you. I just like to go back and watch games from back then; the game as a whole is totally different.

Whether you believe me or not I was one of the more realistic fans who were more down to earth. I mean, spending 16.5 million on the likes of Bent and Bentley is ridiculous, and the reason Arshavin didn’t sign with Spurs is that Levy didn’t want to dish out the cash. But let’s get this straight. Martin Jol didn’t buy those players - Levy did. Spurs at the time had a director of football system which meant that all Jol did was manage the team - Levy and Damien Comolli were in charge of transfers and such. When you look at the players Jol had you see that he really did quite well leading them to two fifth place finishes. It still makes me sick to see the way he was disposed of - and I’m really sick of DL’s spending habits.

And just for the record, GDS was a Ramos signing and was hardly an expensive signing for the player he is. The problem is that he doesn’t really fit our system and has been riddled with injuries.

The reason I say we’ll challenge next year is that we’ve finally started to settle down. We’re not targeting impossible players (some fans were talking of David Villa and/or Ronaldinho last year; give me a break!), and if you look at the way the team has played the last half of the season we have a lot more motivation and esteem. We do need to pick up a better striker and a supporting midfielder.

I’m glad you see that Wenger’s youthful strategy wasn’t working. We’ll see how you guys do.

I’m totally willing to discuss football with you, but let’s keep the discussion sensible and intelligent please.

Hey chill man  my apologies if you somehow felt offended. I know the Internet can make me sound like I’m upset and yelling at you, it’s hard to know, but I’m not. I’m pretty passionate when discussing football, particularly our rivalries with other top 4 teams and Spurs, and I enjoy it that way, when there’s a little emotion ^^

Glad to see you’re not one of those delusional Tottenham fans I often come across. And thanks for enlightening me about the way Tottenham has spent these years, but I thought at least the manager had to have a say? I mean, although Levy and Comolli were in charge of transfers, didn’t they even consult with Jol about who he wanted? They must have known it’s the manager who was most knowledgeable about football and who knew best what was really needed for his team right? That’s how it worked at Chelsea when Mourinho was there.

i love soccer, but i’m not enough of a sports fanatic in general to actually follow the premiership and all that jazz. i have friends who are obsessive about it though. i’m pretty satisfied just watching whenever i see that a game is on and following the major tournaments.

torres <3 haha

Arsenal is already capable of playing at the top of the league (see the first half of the 07-08 season), but they have to avoid injuries.

Arsenal fan as well. Surprised to see so many Arsenal fans on the forum
Bah Spurs. Ugh.
I’m really optimistic about next season too. I think we’ll see Arshavin really start to explode and with CRonaldo and Tevez gone from ManU, who knows?

Eh, ManUre will likely just pick up another 30+ million pound signing to cover for Ronaldo (though he - whoever he is - won’t be nearly as good as CR7, I’m sure)…

But yeah, Arsenal really, really needs to win some silverware soon. I’m thinking the first step is to just buy a well-established player (even more so than Arshavin, for example).

If everyone’s healthy on Arsenal, they have a very strong squad. Too bad Eduardo or RvP or Rosicky is perpetually injured.

Lets go Liverpoooooooool

You’d think so, but

I’m a pretty big football fan, but English teams in my opinion can be a bit overrated. I roll with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
