Jol was consulted but often didn’t get the players he wanted. Even Ramos, who was a terrible coach for the English league, can attribute some of his failure to the fact that he couldn’t get the players he wanted. Only now has Levy started to wake up a little, and with Comolli gone and Redknapp able to get who he wanted in January (Palacios, etc.) Spurs have seen more success.

i watch the premier league…i find other leagues to be boring (except a few teams obviously, barcelona, real madrid, and some serie a teams etc.)

who’s been watching the confederations cup?

How the hell did the US make it through. Well it’s good that Italy is out I guess, can’t stand them. Just hope Spain wins. I think Spain takes it over Brazil in the final.

A lot of people underestimate the USA. I’m not saying they’re the best team in the world or anything, but USA actually has decent players. Congratulations to USA, and best of luck in the rest of the tournament! ;)

^^^Yeah, the U.S. making it was pretty miraculous. I have South Africa winning the Confederation Cup. As tough as Brazil and Spain are, it wouldn’t be the first time a top team has choked, and besides South Africa winning it would be pretty sweet, especially since the World Cup is in South Africa next year (can’t wait!)

More people overestimate them here. When they were #4 in the world going into the last World Cup, casual followers didn’t really appreciate how spectacularly awful those rankings were and were surprised when the US finished #4 in its group.

^The U.S. men’s team is mediocre IMO. They can beat a top team on any given day but at other times they don’t even show up and they end up getting embarrassed. On the other hand, the U.S. women’s team is pretty awesome.

Brazil embarassed a very good Italy team that really didnt show up while Spain beat a bunch of teams that really werent that good. Both Spain and Brazil are extremely talented and loaded with very talented players, but I’m going to take Brazil over Spain in the finals.

No offense to the US national team but the USA has a very easy road to the World Cup. While European nations of the same caliber as the US are playing teams such as Italy, France, England, NEtherlands etc…, the US is playing Honduras, El Salavador, etc (No offense to those countries either). If the US does not make it it would be an emberassment.

Most Americans actually think their team is much better than it actually is. I watched the last two qualifying matches and it’s really amazing how poor the national team of a nation with 300 million is. It’s true that CONCACAF is one of the weaker regions in the world; 3.5 spots is too many in my opinion. The US will inevitably qualify but we’ll probably see an embarrassment in 2010 like we did in 2006.

My opinion on the European system is that it is geared a bit too much towards the top teams. They place one strong team in each group which makes it very difficult to qualify if you are not one of these top teams. As a result you end up with things like this year’s Group 6 and Group 9 with England and Netherlands running away with the groups.

Hey guys,
Do you actually realize how good Spain is ?35 consecutive games without losing + 19 consecutive wins. This is too much.I just cant imagine what will Spain cause to the USA.It should be like 3-0 AT LEAST.
United fans will miss Ronaldo.YOu hate him, because he is the best.Everyone hates the best people.Ronnie is not a diver anymore. He changed his reputation this season. What about Gerrard and TOrres ?I think these are the greatest divers

I was talking about how they had almost no chance of making the semis going into the third game against Egypt.

But I still remember that Gold Cup. Still furious at the referees for the horrible offside call that gifted the US the semifinal against Canada.

If Spain had only barely beaten those teams I might agree with you but Spain destroyed the teams they played, so it’s hard to say which team is stronger. I’m sticking with Spain.

I think Brazil had to face stiffer competition, and they still embarassed 2 out of the 3 teams they played. Spain has a 35 game unbeaten streak and playing outstanding football. I’ll admit that Brazil’s game against Eygpt showed some weakness after they let a 3-1 lead slip away, but they still won the game.

It should be a close game that could go either way. Still, I’m taking Brazil.

A lot of people hate Ronaldo because he is so ****ing cocky.
