Any Football (Soccer) Fans?

I think he’s a great player but I don’t like his attitude cause I think he complains too much and is sometimes a bit dirty. No reason to completely hate a player though. Hate’s a strong word, what can I say. =/

I love how all of us are immediately discounting the US and South Africa. You never know haha.

CR7, I can see that you and I will never get along. Was the video you posted really necassary?

So, I can’t believe that Argentina didn’t qualify for FIFA. HOW? They have Messi and Mascherano, right? I’m still stunned.

And here’s my opinion on who the top four are going to be in the PL. Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, then Spurs.
Arsenal are going to get back in it, and Man U go downhill
CL - Real Madrid are going to win. Hopefully Liverpool make it to the final though(yn)

What are you referring to exactly?

Meh. I’ll say, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal, Spurs, Everton. The last three very close. Competition for fourth will be very close.

On a side note, any one else overjoyed that the Geordies went down? Hahahahahaha

spain v brazil showdown would be great…brazil would be eager to reclaim their title as the best of the best by beating the world’s current top team while spain would like to consolidate their winning streak by beating the samba boys…this game would be EPIC…

kudos to the USA for embarrassing Egypt like that, Egypt was a really strong team in this tournament (barely losing out to Brazil and outplaying Italy)…

I agree that Man U is on their way down. They lost Ronaldo and Tevez, two outstanding players, this year. IMO Ronaldo is the most physically gifted footballer in the world (although I don’t like the guy) and cannot be replaced. Man U will no longer have Ronaldo’s miraculous 40 yd goals and that makes their opposition’s defenders’ jobs much easier. Man U also missed out on signing David Villa (although I’m not sure they had a good shot at signing him anyway).

Yeah, a lot depends on the draw. In 2002 they had a very easy one; in 2006 it was probably the hardest group.

Ronaldo only scored 3 goals from penalties - against Bolton, against Liverpool, and against some other team (I forgot ) but the result was already 3-0 to United.
How many goals did Gerrard score from penalties - at least 8-9 ,in my opinion .
And I really, really dont have a clue how the Pool fans can be so optimistic.I just dont get it.Their team has not won the title in 19 years.Have you heard of a so called big team that hasnt won the title in so many years ?
United not to make it in top 4 ?Are you out of your freaking mind ?United, that won 3 consecutive titles and reached the semi-final in CL 3 consecutive years ?
Yes ,we sold Ronaldo ,but this may make United stronger. We will play more like a team.We still have amazing players like Rooney,Berbatov,Carrick, the best defense (Vidic,Ferdinand and EVra) .VDS is still stable .
Probably we will buy some great players like Benzema, why not Ribery or Villa ?
Honestly,I cant see Liverpool making it in top 4 this season.Liverpool is quite a mediocre team.Yes ,1-4 happened but it was a fluke .Before last season,POol only defeated United once in 5 years.Dossena,Lukas,Kuyt,Babel,Reina and THINGS like these are so mediocre that if it wasnt Gerrard and Torres,I cant see Pool making it in top 6,

My bad, I hadn’t watched the game yet and didn’t realize the U.S. got through. What luck though, eh? :D

Lol there is no way Liverpool is going to win the prem next year. If Arsenal doesn’t get a lot of injuries next year it will be them, Chelsea, and Man Utd even all year, with Liverpool a pretty distant fourth. If they get injuries like they did this year (a far more likely scenario), then it will be Man Utd and Chelsea even at the top, with Arsenal third and Liverpool fourth. Liverpool is a much better Champion’s League team then they are a prem team (in recent years).

And no, I actually like Newcastle. :P

We’re talking about the Confederation Cup semis, but you’re talking about the World Cup?

You’re having a laugh ^^. I don’t like Liverpool either, and 2-3 years ago I always thought they were an average team, but let’s face it, they played some fantastic attacking football last season. How could you say that their 4-1 win vs. Man U was a fluke? They dominated and completely destroyed Man U. I reckon both their huge wins against Real Madrid in the CL were a fluke too huh? It wasn’t an accident that a lot of Liverpool games last season had an awful lot of goals. 4-4 draw vs. Arsenal, 4-4 draw vs. Chelsea, 5-1 vs. Real Madrid come to mind. Too bad they had a pretty atrocious defence, but attacking-wise their football last season was not only efficient, it was fast, explosive at times and enjoyable to watch. I’d even say it was better than Arsenal’s. Common you gotta give credit when credit’s due.

As for Liverpool’s poor record vs. Man U, that certainly doesn’t tell the whole story ;D Arsenal constantly defeated Man U in the EPL over the years. Look at where the two teams ended up. To say Liverpool are mediocre based on that, your argument is quite flawed.

Most of those Liv players you listed are their squad players, i.e those who may not be necessarily very good, but who every team needs. They are important backups who can be used to rotate or fill in when first teamers are tired/ injured. You act like Man U don’t have those players. Please tell me the likes of Gary Neville, O’Shea and Nani are not mediocre. Does that make them unimportant for Man U?

And it’s funny that you said Kuyt is mediocre. He isn’t a great player, but he works his butt off, has a fighting attitude, is a very good crosser and contributed lots of crucial assists. He’s better than Anderson and the all-flash-little-substance Nani.
Although I’d agree with you that Reina is so overrated.

How exactly?

In my experience Manure fans hate Berbs more than Spurs fans do; he’s total **** and a waste of 30 million pounds.

Yes, because I thought it said in South Africa

haha, couldnt have said it better myslef. but then again, we did have our draws at home.
but yeah, arsenals going to place higher than man utd. probably chelsea too (as much as I hate to admit it)

BTW: I was talking about FIFA Qualifying… Argentina aren’t going to be in it next year…
but really, real madrid are really ****ing me off. after mascherano and alonso, probably torres too if he didnt sign that new contract extension ! Oh how I wish I could go to the Toronto FC v Real Madrid Game in the summer :(

Man U are my least favorite team right now, though I hate all three I will be quite happy if this happens.

Yes they will. They still have four matches left (though one of them is against Brazil) and are two points clear. They are better than every team in that region save Brazil. Even if they finish fifth they’ll get to play a weak CONCACAF team.

Reminds me of Chelsea a few years back when Abramovich took over, though at a much larger scale. Who knows what will happen.

Basketball is better. There’s more scoring and the US wins games that aren’t flukes.

^Do you want to go back to the 2004 Olympics. The U.S. got a bronze medal, despite having arguably the best basketball players in the world on their “dream team.”

football (soccer) is the world’s favorite sport…don’t start with that crap that basketball is better…basketball is good…but nothing beats the beautiful game

to the people saying Man U is on their way down…remember people did say that about Arsenal when they lost Henry, who they basically depended on to win their games when they had him…but i remember the season after they sold him, they had a really strong start to the season…so maybe Man U can survive with Ronaldo, time will tell

regardless, i feel like chelsea is the strongest contender for the PL title…when anelka is in top form, he is goal crazy, not to mention the rest of the team

^ yeah, anelka is goal crazy. i like him actually, ballack, anelka and terry are the only players i actually like from chelski haha

so. is the premier league the most popular league here?
i wouldnt say so, the mls is pretty high up there, eh?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA :)

High scoring doesn’t mean anything. It takes a true fan to understand the brilliant nuances of football.

The only Chelsea players I like are Anelka and Ballack. Drogba, Lampard, and Terry are all whiners.

Oh, and the MLS is ■■■■.
