Any hope for CMU (SCS & CIT)?

I already applied to CMU, however, should I have any hope of admission?

GPA: 3.2
ACT: 34
SAT2 MATH: 800
sat bio: 790

Classes: I took all the AP classes my school has to offer. 3 freshman year, 5 sophomore year, 6 junior year, and 4 senior year. My first semester Senior year GPA is 4.0. The 3.2 does not consider this.

My extracurriculars:

-Created my own startup for mobile security. The app has over 350,000 downloads as of now, with a 75% user retention rate

  • Paid Internship at Google and Microsoft

-Won first in 25 coding competitions (including ones hosted by Google, Microsoft, and Amazon)

-Won second at state science fair, along with 3 other international science fairs

-Teaching CS to 75 kids at a Church once a month (for the past 12 months)

-Netflix & popcorn

Volunteer:

-210 hours- working with churches for food drives, distributing food to the needy, and implementing a recycling program.

From a statistical standpoint, would my application even be read by the college? I believe I have mediocre extracurriculars for the students that go there. However, I hope my low GPA could be compensated by the user stats of my company. Is there any hope at all? My essays, I believe, are very good. (spent 5 months writing)

You probably already know that the average unweighted gpa for admitted students to CMU SCS is 3.91 and they are on average in the top 2% of their class. Your 3.2 gpa is probably several standard deviations from the average so it’s anybody’s guess if your EC’s will cause the adcom to overlook your gpa. The average ACT score is 35 so you’re in the ballpark. Many of the applicants to SCS have very strong backgrounds in CS but you appear to be on par with best of them; hopefully, your senior year gpa will win the adcom over.

Good luck!

3.2 is very low. If you have Naviance check the scatter plot but I’d consider it a reach school with that GPA.
