Any thoughts on how good/reputable the program is? How is it compared to other universities??????????

sorry Momwith...you have me stumped.
S doesn't know anyone majoring in Nursing.

Took a quick look at their website
Is it a good thing to have a program that goes all the way to awarding PhD's?
From the little I know about college nursing programs, I know the reason schools of Nursing have to limit enrollments are the lack of PhD's to teach the undergrad courses...so wouldnt having PhD candidates around be a good thing?

Hi Cathymee. Actually, USC offers quite a few master and maybe one PhD program in Nursing. But, I would really like to know how the undergraduate school compares to other schools.

As you can tell by my posts, I am now really torn between USC and Udel. Although we haven't received the paperwork in the mail, I have been able to log onto their website with her application names and passwords, and supposedly she has been accepted. (I know, I know, never assume). I haven't told her that yet, as it could be a fluke like what NC did with the Chapel Hill acceptance letters.

USC is very far, as we are from the NY metro area, and Udel is a mere 3 hours away. Both schools will cost me the same (I am guessing that Udel isn't going to offer $$, and unfortunately, USC didn't offer any), so both will cost me around $25K.

My S is in school in PA, about 3 hours away from Udel, and my D is friends with his friends........and maybe it is a good thing to have all of them close to home. (relatively speaking).

I don't think that my kids are committed to spending their lives in the north east area (you must have the same ice right outside your door that we have this morning). So, if D starts off in SC, she may be more inclined to start off down in SC, or GA or whereever. Not that we are all going to stay together, but if she makes her connections further away from here, maybe it would be for the better?

I will leave the final decision up to D, but I need to be prepared with all of the facts.

My life would be that much easier if she goes to school up here, but I really don't think that is best for her. My whole family HATES the winters .

We are from NY also.S is home on Spring Break with two SC native friends. They drove up, it was 11 hours door to door. One kid never saw so much ice/snow in his life.
S and older D both have friends who went to/are attending UDel. Everybody seems to like it there..especially if they want a quick trip home to the NY area.S looked at it but they dont offer the program he wanted in Sports Management.
Its an interesting decision you and d have to make.I guess she'll be making a visit to both schools during April?
From everyone we've dealt with at USC, they go out of their way to be helpful and accomodating.I bet she could get a direct visit with the Nursing School powers that be if she wants.

I would jump on a plane right now, but here's another twist....we are still waiting to hear from College of Charleston.....We've visited both USC and CofC a year ago last Christmas...and I would love to take one more visit before our decision....But, on the one hand, we'll have to fly down again in June for placement tests/orientation, etc., at USC.....Not that I mind, but I'm sure hubby would complain about $$ spent on the travel.

Does your son drive home/from on Route 81? or does he drive along 95? If USC becomes her choice, we will probably do the back route of 81....as we did it to visit James Madison and I really liked driving that highway...Bigger highways scare the stuffing out of me.

Thanks for listening to me, as it is very frustrating. We made a slight mistake with son's choice of school (although we didn't know it at the time) and I am so afraid of making another wrong choice.
