Hi everyone,
I was recently admitted to Pepperdine. And I'll admit I applied for the beach and that Pepperdine is a fantastic school on the beach. But I didn't apply beach it was a christan school. Honestly I have no care for religion and I worry that in being more liberal that Pepperdine won't be a good fit. What do y'all think?

then pepperdine is not for you…go for a different beach school. It is very conservative and outspoken about religious beliefs. I had a sister that went, I went to visit twice. It would be very uncomfortable.

Yeah Pepperdine is pretty conservative. That’s not to say that there aren’t people here that are liberal because there are. There are also people trying to slowly change this but its a frustrating process so if you think you’ll get frustrated with all the conservatives then maybe it might not be the best fit

Dude, if you want Beach, then hit up the UC’s, like…
UC Irvine
UC Santa Barbara
UC San Diego (though I keep hearing that UCSD is also conservative as well, you might wanna research that)

The only college that I can think of with party scenes and a beach are San Diego State University, and Santa Barbara City College.

Dude, if that is your #1 concern then you need to rethink why you are going to college. I have friends who went there and the bottom line is no one is going to convert you nor should you try to convert other. We are going to learn and become productive members of society not Berkeley radicals. That’s like saying you want to go to Morehouse but heard it was too black or BYU and finding out its too white…Bottom line get over youself you aint all that. Peace!

I’ve met a ton of people who are liberal and conservative who are all very nice! Wherever you go you’re going to meet people who try to shove their beliefs down your throat, but it’s pretty easy to avoid those types. Lots of kids at Pepperdine have had such a pampered and comfortable lifestyle thus far and really don’t have much to complain about. Almost everybody I’ve met from Pepperdine is accepting of all different religious and political views.
