Any other Food Science majors out there?

<p>Just wondering, so I know that I'm not the only one.</p>

<p>List your prospective university.</p>

<p>Mine is Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.</p>

<p>Honestly? No one else?</p>

<p>I work in the food industry in science. I can say I see a lot of red flags in the industry and would not recommend it. They tend to treat their science staff poorly. A lot of them are kept as permatemps with no benefits. I’d say most careers in the sciences are unstable and low paying especially compared with the high intelligence and educational requirements.</p>

<p>My prospective university is Mississippi State University.</p>

<p>My concentration will be Food Safety, but I’m strongly considering Nutrition as well.</p>

<p>I know a guy from a different forum online with a MS in food science and this is pretty much how he’s described his career up to this point. I think he said he’s leaving his current small company due to a lot of ethical issues with the company’s practices and whatnot, too.</p>
