THANKS!!!!

Took IAS 45 with Ballenger this spring. It’s not too bad. She’s a great storyteller, not so great on the teaching, and the stories and anecdotes she tells are really interesting. The assigned readings are also very interesting. The class really makes you reconsider what you’ve learned about history in your previous schooling. She has a bad habit of skipping things on her slides (which are mostly pictures or statistics and not much on words) for fear of running out of time, and then letting us out 15-20 minutes early anyway. Midterm and Final weren’t bad, study guides were helpful for those. Term paper isn’t bad either. It was a good class.

So did you read all the books that she assigned? Can we get the powerpoint online? Is it easy to take notes in her class? The Midterm and Final are essays about the books?

I read all the books(except the textbook, didn’t really touch that), but I had friends who didn’t and did fine. Powerpoints all go up online, but as I said, they’re mostly pictures. Notetaking really depends on how you are, I didn’t have too much of a problem, but sometimes she could move pretty quickly through stuff. Midterm/Final were a few ID’s and one(midterm)/two(final) essays about topics covered in the books and lecture.
