Any Regents and Chancellors Scholarship recipients out there?

when is it, Hypnos?

I just went on the RCSA website and found out there was some kind of aim "chat" going on for new students on Friday the 12th...which I missed...

The website kind of confuses me, some of the links freeze up.

<a href="http://rcsa.berkeley.edu/welcomeweek.php%5B/url%5D">http://rcsa.berkeley.edu/welcomeweek.php</a></p>

Come meet your fellow RCSA scholars at the Annual Welcome Week Get-together! Grab some FREE FOOD and have some fun with your fellow scholars!
Event: Welcome Week Meet-and-Greet
Time: 3:00 PM, August 23rd
Place: Faculty Glade (by Morrison Hall, the music building)

Join RCSA as we venture into the city for a day in San Francisco’s famous Golden Gate Park! There's something for everyone here... some of us will venture around the beautiful, luscious park and play ultimate Frisbee and football, some of us will go shopping, others will explore the fantastic city of San Francisco. Make sure to come out and have some fun!
Event: Day at the Golden Gate Park!
Time: 9:30 AM, August 25th
Place: Meet at the fountain across from Sproul Hall (make sure to have your AC Class Pass)

Take a break from the mediocre DC food and eat with your wonderful RCSA'ers at one of Berkeley's staple restaurants. Good food, good company, what else could you want?
Event: Dinner at Kips
Time: 6:30 PM, August 29th
Place: Kips on Durant, right across from Unit 3

Come join your fellow scholars for fun night of broom-balling at the ice rink! It's basically hockey with brooms and a ball instead of sticks and a puck, on ice, with shoes instead of skates. Sound crazy? Have you tried it yet? Well then get on the ice, and you'll see what all the fuss is about at this VERY popular event.
Event: Broomball!
Time: 9:00 PM, September 1st
Place: Underhill Parking Lot (right across Unit 1 on Channing)
Extra: We ask that you RSVP for this event due to high demand and limited space. However, the RSVP feature is currently not available, but will be started as the date approaches. Look for an email announcement towards the end of the summer saying that the RSVP feature is now up and running.

Oh my!! Thanks Hypnos for the link and info! I would have been majorly upset to miss this!

Are you subscribed to the e-mail list? because I don't seem to be...

Yeah, I am on the email list but i don't seem to get anything from them....

But don't you get a letter from RCSA like a month ago telling you about all these welcome week events?

hmmm...the only thing is that I ditch my roomie so much if I go...but the dinner and trip sounds like good fun and it would be nice to get to meet a bunch of new people! :)

Now that I think of it I have heard of them. I just didn't have the exact dates, so the info is greatly appreciated.

Are you doing the events, Hypnos?

Np...np....:)

I am likely to go to Meet-and-Greet, not sure about the trip though.

I will think about the dinner and broomball event later
:)

are YOU going?

absolutely to the Meet-and-Greet! :) Free food sounds like a wonderful thing to me.

The trip sounds a little intimidating to me as of now...so I think I will assess after the M-a-G.

I think the Dinner sounds good, although I better have my reading done for my history class! (to think, homework already!)

Hey R&C guys (and others). I'm a R&C scholar as well and happen to be in charge of the website (along with another member). The tech@rcsa.berkeley.edu address comes straight to our mailboxes. Even though I won't personally be able to attend the Welcome Week events since I'm moving in late, I would recommend that all of you come out if you can. That's the whole point of welcome week: to get acquainted with other students, to see Berkeley, and to settle in.

The reason the website is in kind of a mess is because one student had been handling it almost entirely during his four years...then he graduated. I worked with him a little bit last semester, our other tech guy even less, so we are still looking over his code, learning it, and finding it rather messy in many places (you wouldn't believe how hacked together the login code is). Anyway, hope to see you all at some of the RCSA events later this semester.

Thanks eudean for the explanation, I wish you luck with fixing it up. :)

I will definitely be attending the events. It will be fun to do a little exploring in the city and meeting everyone. I'm looking forward to it (although I'm still a little iffy on the "broomball", but it certainly sounds fun!)

Oh, and I was just wondering, eudean, what other activities do incoming scholars have to look forward to for the coming year?
