It seems like it wasn't too long ago when I wrote on these forums about getting into US schools. And now it is time to inquire about some job prospects...
I would like to know if some of you here international students (NOT green card holders) were able to get jobs this year. If so, where? I am especially interested in finding out about small companies that hire internationals (obviously, I know that Google/Microsoft and the like do).
How did you guys find those companies? Any advice for someone graduating in 2013 and looking for a job (in an engineering-related field)?
I know most companies haven't started hiring for next year quite yet, but I would like to start the search process early to ideally get hired in the fall.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Especially from the engineering majors.
Thanks guys in advance!

Not a senior, but I can tell you that all of my international friends in college either got a job from a big employer, went to graduate school or went home. Well, all except one. She signed a 12-month contract as a low-paid program coordinator for a local non-profit (basically an extended internship), which she can do on her OPT.

Small companies seem rather averse to the risk of hiring international students, when that means filing an expensive and uncertain H-1B application. There are enough American college graduates who’d be happy to take an entry-level position paying above-average wage (one of the requirements for a work visa).

I forgot to point you to the following database: [H1B Sponsoring Companies Database](<a href=“H1B Sponsors - Database of Companies that have sponsored H1B or LCAs in the past”>H1B Sponsors - Database of Companies that have sponsored H1B or LCAs in the past)

It contains all H-1B applications that were filed between 2001 and 2010, together with the company name, location, job title and salary.

thanks, b@r!um! this is a good list.
