So right now my top two choices are Middlebury and Harvard. Both offer very different experiences. Currently, I'm leaning towards Harvard because it has an awesome Classics department. My main drawback about H is the supposed inaccessibility of the professors there. Do any current students have a take on this?

"the supposed inaccessibility of the professors" is an urban legend. Harvard professors are there because they love to teach, and they'll go out of their way to help students.

Plus the classics department has relatively few majors in it, so I think that classes would be small and professor accessibility would be off the charts.

Two daughters at H; they've both had great relationships with profs - even superstar profs. Plus, there are faculty who live in apartments in each residential college as House Masters (D1's has a Nobel Prize and eats with the students every day). That's about as accessible as faculty can get!

Faculty accessibility is going to be a total non-issue in Classics. In econ or psychology, students may need to put forth a little more proactive effort in establishing relationships with faculty members. But in Classics? You will not be able to hide from your professors even if you try!

I believe several Classics profs have gotten teaching awards. Kathleen Coleman was an advisor on Gladiator, the movie. She's very popular.

I former graduare from my HS goes to Middlebury and is actually doing classics there and she loves it. Harvard will have a good department, but I know that she loves it there.

I'm in the exact same boat only it has come down to Harvard and Duke. They will both cost around the same after financial aid. I want to go into business but am struggling to choose. I guess it's a great problem to have though! Does anybody have any experiences or tips that might help? I'd really appreciate it!

I have a Junior at Duke and a Freshman at Harvard. If you are thinking of business I would suggest Duke. My son is an engineering major but will be getting his MBA or MEM and the business department is outstanding. He is taking a finance class that is extremely popular and is outstanding. His roommate is one of the most sought after interns for this summer at all the major investment firms. He is an Econ major and got offers from everyone!!! I wish I could be more specific, but I just have felt that Duke might have more to offer in this area. Good luck choosing - both are just outstanding schools but have a completely different feel to them.

Thank you BlessedMom!
Any other thoughts by anyone would be greatly appreciated!
