Anybody want to chance me? (to stanford)

African American Male
1 brother (accepted to Princeton)
Parents have college degrees, Mom has a JD
Suburban town MA
Sophomore</p>

<p>Latin III (no honors class available)
Honors Chemistry
Algebra II
English III (no honors)
US History (no honors)
B+/A- average (very competitive day prep school, 1/3 to ivy each year), hoping to get it up around A-</p>

<p>Other classes at school
Excel at art, planning to take AP ceramics and drawing Junior and Senior year
Chorus </p>

<p>EC:
Play the drums, but not for very long
Run cross country 2 years (before I played football for 6)
Play basketball JV (10 years)
Crew team (1 year), I may switch to the musical
The du bois society- For African Americans where we read about issues in society and get to be lectured by Harvard professors
Service in South Africa, and going to do service in India in the spring
Planning on some tutoring in the city in the summer
Debate club- model UN this year
Multicultural student association club
Sports club
FOCUS (club)- fellowship of Christians in universities and schools</p>

<p>Scores: The only one I have so far is a 700 in Biology E, took it in freshman year
Have started Sat tutoring and planning to take History and chemistry this year</p>

<p>And the rest… I am advised by the Headmaster at school, one of 9 in the school</p>

<p>Looks like a good start for a sophomore. Remember, the thicker the paper, the thicker the student. </p>

<p>Also, it is best to be involved in a club/activity that you been in for a while or changed in a way. (Leadership) </p>

<p>So if somehow you could show leadership in each of your club and passion for it, you should be a good shot toward stanford.</p>
