Has anyone you know got into SF University High School and Lick Wilmerding with low SSAT scores? By low I mean 70 percentile.
Yes. But in both cases they were siblings.
Do you think that other people that have no siblings get admitted with a 65-70 percentile? I don’t have any siblings in those schools but I play volleyball competitively, and have qualified for Junior National Championships. I’ve also won the championships at my school and I’m the captain.
I’ve played the piano since I was 4, passed piano exams with top marks, and played for churches in my spare time. I also moved from New York to SF, which can help with diversity. Every month, I volunteer at a food bank, and I used to volunteer at an animal shelter as well as elementary schools. I even help incoming 6th graders at my school adjust to the new environment. I won’t be needing financial aid and I’ve had a 4.0 for all three years of middle school.
I created a writing website for kids of all ages to submit their own works to support struggling members of our local nursing home. I’ve obtained support from Harvard University’s newspaper president. I can even ask him to write a recommendation for me. I’m pretty sure my teachers and counselor will write something good about me, and my application is written very well. I was able to bring out my understanding, compassionate, and hard working side. But the down side is that I have a 73rd overall percentile for the SSAT. Do you think I’ll still get in?
I think the fact that you excel at volleyball, have great grades, and are full pay will help a lot. Make sure your essays stand out!
You’ve got this!
Wait, by siblings do you mean they had siblings in those schools already? Or were the applicants applying together as siblings?
Siblings already attending
