Anyone apply for the Interactive Media and Game Design Program at USC?

My S applied for this, and we heard on one thread they admit 12 students per year. We were just out at USC again doing one last tour and meeting with his regional admissions counselor, since we were going to be at LMU the next day (he was admitted to LMU’s Animation program), and afterwards, my S said he was super stressed that USC had only allowed him to upload 1 portfolio piece (as opposed to Chapman and LMU, which allowed him to upload a a whole series of portfolio pieces). This seems really odd to me, and I’m wondering if maybe he missed some directions on there. But I don’t want to say anything to him and freak him out…so was curious if anyone else applied to the IMGD program and if you uploaded multiple pieces? Thanks for any responses!

The admission supplement for the IMG major can be found here: https://cinema.usc.edu/admissions/procedures/interactive/PDFs/InteractiveApplication.pdf Depending on the type of creative work a student submits, applicants may submit more than one piece, for other types, it looks like just one–but look over the details. They also submit a Creative Portfolio list which is an itemized listing of all creative works (dates, location/institution, honors won, etc) including productions, showings, achievements, honors and awards and projects. SCA can get an idea of the type of activities the student has pursued, plus the scope of an applicant’s work from that. And a slight correction: the number of students enrolled is usually around 18-20 so they likely admit a bit more than that since not all admits decide to attend. Best of luck to your son.

Thank you @madbean for that link…super helpful. Makes me feel better, as I recall him working on several of the other items as well, so reviewing makes me think he did complete the application thoroughly. Still just struck me as odd that the other schools asked for at least a dozen portfolio pieces. Have a great day and again thanks for your help and kind thoughts!
