I have not heard anything about the interview yet. But they’ve cashed my check!!! So I know they got the application, that’s good, right?

aye! good sign. yeah, they cashed mine a while ago. :)

ay, hey.

has anyone had ANY other communication with the program office? Has anyone actually been to Yale to see it or go on the tours?

initially i applied as a transfer, and I emailed the EWP office about whether i could be considered for their program as well. the woman called me back and left me a lengthy voicemail saying i should definately go for EWP instead as i probably qualify.

i’ve emailed with that person a few times with little questions. she’s very nice and to the point. other than that, nothing else.

Yeah, if I hear anything I’ll post it here, and I am pledging now to post my decision right here on this forum.

I have not heard anything yet either. I heard that if you get rejected, you get a letter right away. I heard if they select you for the interview, you are kind of like a finalist of sorts, but it’s not a guarantee.

Anyone else hear something similar?

Alright, everyone – if they admitted 5 students last year, then they had about 83 to 84 applicants (I reverse integrated the data at a 6 percent admissions rate). That said, we have some competitive applicants on this thread: pushin30, ilivefree, occtransfer, and hellojan. I might have missed some here. But feel free to add yourself. I exclude myself because I am posting and I honestly don’t feel as competitive as all of you.

So that means, if they have the same amount of applicants as they did last year that there are about 80 people (maybe more) not posting on this board. Now we could speculate that some applied early and got rejected. Some applied at the last minute. Some are probably trying to get all their materials into the office. Right now, we know that there are enough competitive students on this thread alone to fill every possible seat in the program. So that means that all the other students that we know nothing about could fill those students too.

I speculate that since the deadline was April 1, 2008 that some will get rejected very soon (Hopefully, not me!). But, we have to assume that all the people that will be rejected will get rejected before May, because they will need to select those who will interview for further consideration in May. Yale does not seem like a do it at the last minute kind of place.

If you look back at the thread from last year, those who got an interview and got rejected got their decisions by June 24 or so. Somebody said that last year they interviewed fifteen people. So given the stats from last year (assuming that person was correct) about 1/3 of those who interviewed got accepted. So your chances of attending are pretty decent if you can actually make it to the interview. But I could be completely wrong.

So here’s what I know for sure: I have not gotten a rejection yet. BUT I anticipate one soon, if it’s coming. If I get rejected, I’ll post it here. If not, I’ll keep you all up-to-date.

I pledge to post any Yale correspondence here too. I think we all have a good shot!

I agree that we all have a good shot. Who knows what little idiosyncrasies will differentiate those who are finally accepted. I actually think we should all celebrate the fact that we had the gumption to apply! :)

And I’ll post if I’m contacted for an interview. For sure. Look forward to seeing how all this plays out for all of us!

We want futures!!!

Everyone is feeling the pinch…

Okay guys I promised I would post as soon as I heard anything. I just got a call from Marion. She said they will be calling in the next two to four weeks for interviews…

BTW, don’t freak out. There was something missing from my app. That’s why they called…

Pushin30, her name is Marianne, just in case you ever have to email her or type it out. :)

Thanks for the heads up!

They called today and asked me a logistical question about my app. I told them them I would get the writer of my rec to contact them immediately. I think they are selecting now who will be rejected and who will get the interviews. As far as I can tell, they review your application for completeness and then immediately review it for consideration. That’s what I think. So no news is not good new yet!

Megtaylor I got a sense of that too. They are picking the pool to interview now. You say a logistics question, what do you mean?

Oh, so, logistics: when and how the letter will get to Yale soon. That’s it.

Hey All,

Do you think international applicants who speak several languages have a shot at getting accepted to the program?

there were about 158 apps lastyr

Hi, everyone! I’m considering applying next year and have a question that I’m hoping some of you could help with.

By the time I transfer, I will have more than two years of college work completed, but it will all be at the 100- and 200-levels. Do you think that will eliminate me? I know they eliminate traditional transfers based on that, but I have a feeling Eli Whitney might be different since they’re used to working with people who’ve had to leave college and then restart for a variety of reasons.

Anyone with experience with this? It’s only going to be more than two years of work because I’m going to be enrolled in community college courses next year simply to maintain my insurance; it won’t be degree-seeking credit.
