Anyone applying RD hear yet?

yay! I got accepted with the Trustee Scholarship! I can actually afford to go if I want to now…

WAIT. Pioneer Web? whaaat? I can’t find any information about a website or username/password in my email archives. Was this sent through snailmail…?

No, but what it seems based on what others have been saying is that if you have Gmail, it probably went to your spam. It’s weird, especially since I’ve received many other emails from Ms. Vaverka without a problem.

my son’s pioneerweb user name and password went to the spam box. he has a gmail account. luckily he sent an email to Nettie on Thursday and she replied on Friday – resent the login info. my son’s user name is the first six letters of his last name followed by the first two letters of his first name. But the password is random – not a birthdate.

^Thanks

I found out that my user name is the (5) letters in my last name and the first three of my first name from him/her^. I then tried to reset my password, but to do that I need to know my password. WTH?

If anyone else who had this same problem is able to find out their result, let us all know here.

Received very nice Trustee Scholarship which will help a lot. Thank you Grinnell!!!

Other schools we looked at did not even compare to Grinnell’s generosity and their base sticker price was many times much higher. Thank you Warren Buffet for helping them to invest wisely ;)

waitlisted

hang in there Noogey23, many who are wait listed end up getting in.

Accepted!

Congrats sarucane!!!

Have any internationals been accepted with lots of aid? I got waitlisted. :(

Did they mention anything regarding aid in your waitlist letter? Or are we to infer that we’re waitlisted because they are unable to offer more aid? :(

@anuragSarkar - I got about 32k in grant

Daughter is in, but will not attend. Only aid was a $7500 merit scholarship. We’re glad that she has other good options

Oh boy! What would I give to get even a much smaller merit scholarhip! Even 2 or 3 grand would be great, because it can as well mean the difference between enrolling and not.

Our family does not qualify for any financial aid, and as expected got no $$ from other schools (other than maybe her NM scholarship). Grinnell offered a $10,000 Trustee Scholarship, and that is enough to tip the scales for us (we are talking Carleton, Wellesley, WashU). Over four years, that is a year of college, and at a school like Grinnell, wow! You just don’t see that anywhere else.

I agree inatlga!!!

For many who do not get financial aid based on need, this is huge money!

Grinnell is one of the only schools of this caliber that offers merit aid like this. I think Carleton only offers about 2k at best. Most of the top 20 don’t offer any merit aid.

When you factor that most of these schools also cost about 50k plus and Grinnell’s cost is 46k, you save 4k plus per year and then you put the merit aid on top and that makes it quite attractive.

We figured that our son is saving 30k per year attending a school that charges 46k per year vs 52k at some he looked at and then with the merit aid he will save about another 30k plus This makes it 60k cheaper than some other schools he considered. And, all the activities on campus are free for students. Gotta love that.

Yeah I’m in the same boat. Accepted at Uchicago, Carleton, and Wesleyan but with a merit scholarship at Grinnell. I’d kind of written off Grinnell beforehand but now it’s hard to warrant going anywhere else for ~$15k more a year.

So I’m a longtime lurker on the site but this is my first official post. Hi everyone.

I was wondering if there are still any internationals that still don’t know the status of their admission decision? My username and password got dumped in the spam folder and I’ve e-mailed Nettie but still no response in the past two days. It’s killing me!
