My daughter's graduation is june 20th ... it is a transfer school and all the kids there are refugees from some other school situation ... Therefore all the admins and teachers are wonderful at getting the kids to acclimate to the new school situation and bring out the best in their students ... 100% of the small graduating classes go on to college ... They've really been wonderful with my daughter - a few teachers stand out but as a whole, the school has just been amazing for her ...

I was considering getting a microwave for the school as a thank you gift for all the wonderful work they do but my daughter told me that the graduating class (only about 20 kids) are chipping in to get one for them ... so there goes that idea.

My budget is limited ..really no more than $150 .. but I'd like to find some way to honor them. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Rachel

(It's a very small (about 120 kids) school, mostly low to middle income kids, located in New York City)

I’m sure they’d appreciate any gift that, like a microwave, would make their daily life easier. But they might also like to receive a letter from you expressing those sentiments, something permanent that they can keep in the office to look at on those down days. Sounds like a wonderful place!

Does the school have a camera? Our preschool used to have a board in the entrance hall with photos of new students so everyone could learn their names quickly. I always loved the idea and it might be appropriate for this high school.

Thanks for the ideas so far … I will be writing a letter of thanks to the principal … they know what a treasure they have … they hear it from parents all the time but a written note is always well received.

I’ll ask my daughter about the condition of their fridge and coffee makers…
The school has a photography department with many many cameras …
