Anyone else get really crappy housing offers from UCLA?

Hey guys,

UCLA emailed me today saying that my housing offer was available. I was really excited to check it because on all my housing preferences I put all apartments for 12 different choices. Unfortunately UCLA gave me a Classic Triple in a dorm (Located in SPR? Not sure what that stands for) but I’m really frustrated that I couldn’t even get an apartment. I don’t want to live in a dorm because I was looking forward to juniors and seniors in the apartments, and it is to my understanding that it’s pretty much all freshmen in the dorms. Also, I think the classic triple might be smaller so that’s another downfall. I submitted my application an April too so I don’t think it was late or anything.

Has anyone else gotten their housing offer from UCLA yet? If so, did you get any of your housing preferences?

I got a deluxe triple which was my second choice so I can’t really complain, but my roommate and I selected each other for a deluxe double and she ended up in a triple plaza…which is completely random.

Same thing happened to my dd when she was a transfer student to UCLA a few years ago. All her choices were apartments and was offered a triple shared room. It’s difficult to get it changed so she just found a room mate on the UCLA site and lived off campus. It really did end up being better in the long run. She didn’t have to pay extra for parking (if you want to bring your car), she saved on food and was one block from the campus shuttle and close to shopping (Trader Joes/Target). When your 21 you want your own private bedroom and bath. Her friends that ended up with the triple shared hated it.
