Anyone else having trouble loading the "Statement of Legal Residence"?

I've tried both Firefox and IE and I keep getting this message:

Bear Facts System Exception
A Bear Facts System Exception has occurred.
This Exception has been logged and will be reviewed by BearFacts Support.

I hope it gets fixed soon :(

mine worked perfectly, logging in, review, submission, etc. btw, i am using the latest version of IE (ver 7) and i also worked on it at around 4-5pm.

try that and see if it works.

good luck

DFDSLX0988 - When did you do it? I'm talking about right NOW (I wouldn't be surprised if it worked just fine in the past).

I'm using the latest IE and Firefox, but I'm still getting that message :(

i finished it yesterday, i reviewed it, and submitted it. everything was fine. And yes, I am ALSO an incoming freshman so we're talking in terms of RIGHT NOW.

try aol open ride, clear your cache of cookies, and old files, etc.

btw, i am also having problems loading myChecklist page ever since I submitted my SLR. Dunno what's up with that though.

Good luck and provide feedback if it worked.

I tried clearing cookies, cache, everything, but I still get the message.

I am hesitant to install anything AOL-related on my computer. Are there any other solutions? I already sent them a couple emails about it. I guess I'll try calling them tomorrow.

i still have a problem loading the myChecklist page too. but i am pretty much done with the first major steps on submitting information (thank God). in yur case, I would give them a call since you only have a few more days to submit your information. The time I messed up on the housing application--it was the browser btw--I sent an email. The officer asked me to provide the information missing and she added it. But this is a major thing in enrollment so just tell them to find another way of putting your info down, like a phone questionnare type of thing.

Exactly what number would I call? Clicking on the "HELP" link doesn't take me anywhere on BearFacts.

Also, I got a call earlier today from Berkeley at this number (510-642-7209), but I wasn't there. I called back but I got a message from Verizon Wireless telling me that the number has been changed or is inactive or something. Any ideas?

Wait, I just got an email from them:

Hi,
Although you should get a more helpful error message than you're getting, the problem is that you need to complete the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) - first item in your Next Steps box in myBerkeleyApp - before you can do the SLR. If you still get this error after you complete the SIR, please email orres@berkeley.edu

I haven't finalized my decision, so that's why I don't have my SIR accepted; I was planning on getting everything but the SIR done so that when I finally decide there's only one thing to accept.

Yeah Azure326-- I second that. I also got that email response after I asked them. I guess we need to do SIR first.

i wouldn't recommend leaving things until may 1st. you will have to do many, many things to get set up and the SIR submission is the most important. It sets up your CARS account and everything. So, i would decide at least 1 day before the deadline. it really shouldn't be THAT HARD to pick one right???

so, make ur decision as soon as possible. the SLR needs to be done with a parent to make things faster. plus, there is housing, and setting up some other stuff like CalSO, etc.

DFDSLX0988 - Well, this is a VERY important decision, and I'm torn between Berkeley and UCSD (I got a full-ride and into the research program).

On the Berkeley SLR FAQ page it says this:

NOTE: It may take 1-2 days from the time you submit your Statement of Intention to Register before you become 'eligible' to complete a Statement of Legal Residence. If you encounter a message telling you that you are not yet eligible for the SLR, please try again after 2 days.

Shoot! Did any of you guys have to wait this long after submitting your SIR before you could do your SLR? Time is a huge factor, and the 1-2 day wait time makes things MUCH worse!

i did my slr right after i submitted my sir
that exception error did show up at first, actually...but after i logged out then logged in and tried again, the slr worked

i did something similar. you just need to wait for the server to process the SIR fee and set up CARS. that's all. it should take like 5 minutes, tops.

from what i read, you really lean towards SDs financial aid and extra stuff. it's up to you. keep in mind that you have tons of scholarships out there, so money really shouldnt be that important. if you're minority its even easier. but heck, its up to you and HOW MUCH you want to be at cal.

good luck. the clock is ticking my friend

Uhh...I just did the SLR and it was like only 1 page long and took like 2 minutes...isn't it supposed to be much longer (I read somewhere on their website that it can take up to 20 minutes!)? For me it was just a few yes or no questions about whether my family and I have been physically in California for the last 3 years.

Oh yeah, this means of course that I submitted the SIR and am officially going to UC Berkeley! GO BEARS!!

Azure, first, CONGRATS on making a decision, wow, I guess I'm glad I got no scholarships or rides -- that would definitely have affected my decision too. Yeah, on the SLR, same thing happened to me and I thought it was going to take longer too.

Okay…Has anyone submitted their SLR late? I could not load my checklist so I did not see the deadline for the SLR and I just submitted it (two days late) Do you think they’ll be lenient because I could not load the page? Hopefully?

I don’t know the answer but I have to say that in light of the problem you had, your username is . . . ironic. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

@usuallyafailure
Did you call/email them and get a response? I’m freaking out because I had a similar problem and turned mine in today :[
