Well, it’s a good thing my friend in Fl got hers. She decided to test and surprise, found she was +. Didn’t believe it, so tested next day with 2nd at home test, again +. Went for PCR and again +
She’s shocked as she feels she’s been “ safe” but may have to postpone several scheduled appointments and a surgery.
She felt was was being “ safe” and “ not going anywhere,” and hermitting. So far she’s not feeling too bad and will be getting treatments delivered to her house.
I received an email on Friday from the USPS that my tests would be delivered 2/10. Today I got a second email that they are out for delivery today. The tests were ordered 1/18.
I just went online and was able to order home Covid tests from United Healthcare (my insurance provider). The website said I could order up to 8 free tests per month. I ordered 6 since I am receiving the free government ones today. Has anyone else ordered and received Covid tests this way?
My insurer has different options for different types of policies. For state employees, they can get their tests at CVS (participating & preferred pharmacy), and they’re charged nothing or whatever the contracted amount is between insurer and pharmacy. I bought my 8 kits at Walgreens and submitted my claim for reimbursement on my insurer’s website. It was very simple 1 page form and required scanned copy of upc and receipts. It didn’t seem very onerous to me but would be tough for people without computer access or familiarity.
I finally got an email late last night saying they would be delivered on Thursday. And then this morning I got another email saying they were out for delivery today! They were just delivered a short time ago. I ordered on Jan. 18 and am in the Los Angeles area.
I just received my 4 tests from the fed govt. they came UPS from TX. They expire 7/2022. I’m giving 2 to visitors so they can test before we see them. We and my mom are high risk. We will drop them off at their hotel, front desk.
I bought 4 in Nov/Dec at Sam’s Club. Those expired in Mar of April 2022, so we used them 1st. We also bought some at Walgreens that expire 11/2022. The ones I was sent from a program HI is participating in don’t expire until 2023.
When I consider buying more tests, I will again check the expiration dates. D has a wedding shower and wedding this month and 2 weddings in April. We have sone visitors arriving next week. The tests will be good to have for these events.
So maybe someday somebody will need to find a fun way to repurpose unused, expired tests ;). My joke has been thatafter Covid our church quilters (the Faith Sewers) should make a quilt out of old cloth masks…. and add title, “In Case of Emergency, Break Stitches”. Get it? (like fire extinguisher - in case of emergency break glass)
It’s kind of like the expiration dates on drugs — most of them are still potent for long after their expiration dates. Drugs like aspirin and other things last a decade or more beyond the stated expiration date as tested by the US military.
