<p>If your daughter has reservations about Bucknell, which it sounds as though she does, for heaven’s sake do NOT apply early decision–she will have to go there. It is not going to become less Greek or more welcoming or whatever it was that she observed there on her visit.</p>
<p>Juniata has a great reputation among people who have ventured beyond the “usual suspects.” It is on the Colleges that Change Lives list and if I recall correctly has very high student satisfaction rates. Plus, if your daughter’s stats are at the high end of their range, she might get some nice merit aid–which would allow you to set the “savings” aside for grad school, a down payment on her first house, or whatever.</p>
