From yesterdays EA results , if you were accepted, defered, or rejected and appled to Ivan Allen, would be curious to know your stats. Waiting RD in March particularly for Ivan Allen. GT IA is a high reach and most likely reject, but have heard that different criteria for seeking liberal arts at GT , as in more holistic. 29 ACT 3.6 GPA. tons of community service and EC. In state CF.
My DD is a second year in Ivan Allen (which she loves, btw). She had a 34 ACT, 4.3 GPA, 14 AP classes - including AP Calculus - and an extensive resume of leadership roles including initiating and implementing fundraising programs for various nonprofits. GT does use faculty from Ivan Allen to review applications from those students hoping to pursue a degree in that college. Admissions believe they are best able to discern which applicants have the skill set and motivation to “improve the human condition” through the lens of a liberal arts education. However, these students are also required to successfully complete calculus and computer science courses (among other, non liberal arts courses). The degree is a B.S. and not a B.A. They know that students have the ability to change their major and will look for evidence that you are able to meet the rigorous demands of all of your courses. My DD has done very well, but she studies all the time. I do think it’s a high reach, but you never know. You are in state so, if you have an especially compelling application (and AP Calculus), they could find that you’d be a good fit. Best of luck!!!
