Anyone hear from their appeal yet?

Out of last years 1,400 applicants that appealed, about 98 (15-16%) were overturned.

But about 62 of these students that won their appeal neglected to send their SAT scores. So about 30 or so kids actually got in on bringing a legitimate and compelling case to the appeals committee.

if i sent mine in 3/10/06 when should i hear back?

You should hear from the admissions office by next week. If not I would go ahead and call the admissions office and ask whats the status of your appeal is.

If those figures are accurate, that's actually 7%.

still no one, nothing?

we should have sent them our sat scores with the letter? I was assuming that they would look over our application again?

it wouldn't hurt to list them...i doubt they have time or energy to look for your file and review everything for every single person. they prob read your letter and if it is super compelling, then they will go back and look at your record.

Within this week... meaning?

for me, i submitted my stuff on april 1st. since then, ive been checking my account once a day to see if it has been updated with the "we have received ur appeal and are reviewing it blah blah..." but now its almost 2 wks and my rejection letter is still there.

anyway i called them um to see whats up, and they said i prob wont hear by May 1 b/c they have so many appeals and are actually a lil behind schedule on reviewing them...sucks huh? i think all of us should just SIR somehwere anyway

won't hear back by May 1st?
=/

sent mines in yesterday... wow this sucks. you guys know anyone who got in through appeal? gah i wonder how compelling the essay has to be..

i turned mine into my counseling office thursday. i'm guessing they fedexed it either thursday afternoon or friday. (i live overseas.) when do you think ucla will receive it?

oh, and did anyone include anything other than declaring continued academic excellence, family hardship not mentioned in app, etc? like a cd of you playing your instrument or a tape of you dancing or copies of artwork?

okay since the deadline for sending in your SIR is may 1st and we will be finding out may 1st, are we allowed to send one in and then say we can't go if we get into another UC on appeal?

i've heard that people have done it before... on the same day. call admissions

Is there anyway I can send them any additional information (By faxing them or mailing them)? I just remebered something I forgot to put on my appeal. Also, can I also send them an updated transcript? (The one I sent had an error)

Ouch. They are looking for stuff like an error in your transcript. Im not sure i think you could call although i think its a little late. They arent going to make the 5/1 deadline for those who sent 4/15 according to another post. They said they are very very swamped. Im glad i sent mine 3/31

Do they say "we have received your appeal and is in review" for those of you who have turned in early like madkapitolist?

Yes it does say that for me.

Actually I mentioned that the transcript already had the error in my letter (It's missing a class). So if I can't update them it should still be okay.
