Anyone hear from their appeal yet?

"They arent going to make the 5/1 deadline for those who sent 4/15 according to another post. They said they are very very swamped."

I think the UCLA undergrad admissions staff should all get together at a campfire, under a starry sky, and have a good cry. I can arrange for someone to strum an acoustic guitar sadly.

Then they should hire a couple extra people to account for the obviously larger applicant pool of 2006, maybe take on a few more student volunteers for sheer screening purposes, and probably plan for this better next year.

;)

or they can just let me in and continue with their lives...

hehe that would be nice. There were at least 40 ppl from my school who were appealing. It's no wonder why UCLA is swamped as they say.

We're doomed!

Where's everyone about to go for college currently?

I called again (last week they told me I would hear by the end of the week), and the lady told me she can't even tell me when it will be done by. Maybe not even by May 1st. Mine was recieved March 17. I think it is one thing to be a little backed up, but to miss their 3 week deadline by another full 3 weeks is kind of rediculous.

I'll probably send in my deposit for UT McCombs next Monday if I haven't heard by then.

Maybe it's a good sign you haven't heard yet because my friend who also appealed to UCLA said that the appeal goes through 3 or 4 people before the final decision is made and can be rejected by the first person or the second and so on. (I don't know how she found this out, but I can ask her if anyone wants to know). Maybe this means you weren't rejected in the first wave. I'm just speculating though.. Does UCLA even send its appeal decisions as it makes them on a rolling basis?

If you could find out, that'd be awesome. I was trying to be optimistic and say "they must really be looking close at it and considering it" but I think its probably more like "we haven't even looked at it yet, but we'll tell you its under review"

I'll ask her and then get back to you.

just found out i was rejected

damn, I am sorry to hear that. :( Where are you going?

rakt how did you find out

Sorry to hear your appeal was denied, r-akt... :(

damn sorry to hear that r-akt. When did you send it in? Did they notify you by email or did you check the status? Good luck wherever you are going, don't worry about UCLA, we all know how strange some of their decisions have been.

My guidance counselor called UCLA today, and all they would tell her is my appeal went into review on April 10, and the latest I will hear is May 1st. I sent it in March 17, so it took long enough to just get into review, and it seems to be taking a while in there as well. Whether that is good or bad I'll find out soon hopefully.

Found it on the admission status website. Mailed my appeal on March 18th.

I found out I was rejected too. But I probably would have picked Cal over it.

Sorry to hear about the appeal decisions, you guys =[

Sorry to hear about decisions..
if you guys don't mind, could you guys post what your appeal was about?
hope you will be happy at wherever you are going!

how did you find out appeal decisions? was it all online? or letters via regular mail

I just found out online that I was rejected. I wasn't expecting to work out anyways.

I'm seeing kind of an interesting trend, and forgive me if it's been said before. But on cc, a lot of people post when they get accepted, and not when they've been rejected. Thus, i find it interesting that so far we've had no people post that they've been accepted on appeal, but a couple post that they've been rejected. This leads me to believe a couple things: 1) that, probably more people have been rejected on appeal than we know, and 2) that perhaps they release acceptances later than appeals. Maybe the long wait is a good sign..?

Either way, I know it's hard to post rejections, but it really helps all of us out, so i really appreciate that.
