<p>The deal with Navy ROTC is I get free tuition, books, and a stipend, but I owe them 4 years active duty and 4 years reserves after graduation. My counselor's son did it at UVA and loved it, so she pushed me to apply for it. The first year is basically a trial year, you can drop out with no penalty, after that if you decide to drop out you either must serve part of your time or pay back your tuition for school.</p>

<p>My status changed on the decision site to say congratulations, your appeal was successful blah blah blah. I'm paying my deposit this weekend, and signing up for housing, which I guess I should start reading up on. </p>

<p>I got even luckier, because I qualify for honors, so I am going to apply for that, and I don't have to take the writing exam or math placement exams.</p>
