Everyone who has been accepted should check their financial aid because I received my award letter yesterday.

@Sorespectable - that’s great; our cousin (also from NorCal) was told he probably didn’t have a chance with a 3.0 and “out of the area” for the Business Dept.

I am just really confused why we would be on hold so long with a nearly 3.3 in Communications…

@mimsmom I don’t think you haven’t been accepted just because you aren’t in the local area. A 3.29 GPA is below average for Cal Poly Pomona and your child’s SAT score isn’t spectacular either. This school is competitive regardless of major and a 3.29 GPA doesn’t secure you a spot at most schools. Plenty of people have been accepted outside the local area so don’t blame the school for discriminating. Sorry if this comes off as rude I just didn’t know how else to put it. I still think you have a chance of being accepted, you just shouldn’t be confused or surprised if you aren’t admitted.

@Minsmom Hi. Do you know how it works? They calculate an eligibility score 800xGPA + SAT out of 1600. Locals have a lower index number that if they surpass will be admitted, in some cases the minimum CSU eligibility number, in others higher. The out of area applicants for each major are then admitted higher to lower index score until the major is full. Your daughter’s high GPA and low SAT produce a score similar to my son’s low GPA, high (for CPP) SAT produce a similar index number but they aren’t keeping because of different majors. I called a couple of days ago and they said they will be sending them out the 15th but keep checking. Good luck to her.

Sorry. talking on phone and typing- Our kids have similar index # but different majors so not COMPETING, I wanted to say.

@cpp - I’m only a little confused, and only because others have actually posted slightly lesser stats. I’m well aware of how hard it is to get in. And I don’t think I’ve “blamed” the school for discriminating in any of my posts. We would have been happy to go to school up here if we found one that had the major we wanted (and one that wasn’t in a bad area).

It’s not the 15th yet, so there’s still time for acceptances. It’s not like they’re holding off rejects until the last minute.

& Congratulations, Olivarez831 :)!

got accepted today!! computer science major!

Has anyone signed up for orientation yet? Do you have to be accepted before you can apply for housing, enrollment, orientation…ect.??

I’m still on “Referred to Impacted Major”…my major is Electrical Engineering and GPA is 3.45…all this waiting is killing me…

@mimsmom i think your daughter will get in. Your stats are in range of acceptance.

@x14sta I think it should if i say no, but if people get waitlisted, and I say no to CPP, they have a chance at getting off the waitlist.

@newtranfer I’m a FTF majoring Chem, emphasis on biochem. My GPA is 3.75 and my SAT is 1000/1600.

@velieve94: Are you sure it’s not $178 for the total?
For a while BroncoDirect has shown $78 due for the orientation fee which I haven’t paid yet. I did pay $100 for the enrollment fee already which Bronco didn’t have listed in the list of charges, but perhaps it has both of them combined for you? If you click on “charges due” it should show the details of the charges they have for you.

@CPPcivileng2016 I believe you need to be admitted before you can sign up for the orientation. However, my son was admitted early March and his orientation did not open up until Monday. I think that was the first date orientation opened up for everyone.

My stats are horrible. 3.1 GPA, and 850/1600 SAT score. I applied as a business admin. major. I’m not nearly competitive enough. Good luck to everyone and wish me luck!!
