Santa Cruz “hands down”!!! A UC is a UC…no comment…
Still looks better than any CSU!

Cal Poly SLO begs to differ, my friend.

CPP is also preferable if your major is engineering since it teaches you via a hands-on approach.

@Tribal: I had the same things under my to-do-list. I also sent them the transcript but I don’t know if that can make them clear off the toefl and immigration status documents. I wonder if anyone else have the same problem?

@nooraoso It all depends on what you want. I got admitted to Cal Poly Pomona and Cal Poly SLO, I also got admitted to UC Riverside, waitlisted at UCSB and UCSD. I eventually boiled it down to Cal Poly Pomona and Cal Poly SLO since UC’s don’t have a Liberal Studies major. And I chose Cal Poly Pomona in the end because I visited both campuses and I felt more at home at Pomona’s. For majors like engineering, architecture, liberal studies (elementary education), any major really that requires “hands-on” rather than “theoretical” knowledge, both Cal Poly’s are great because you get to learn hands-on and have experience prior to being in the work field.

@Tribal I have them. Btw, what is the verification of immigration status?

@reyrey389

You got waitlisted? Did you ever turn in the supplemental application for Chem E?

Hey Tenseig4 is that something i should’ve done myself? I was never emailed anything about that. Actually, i do remember i called them once about that and they said something about “there is no such thing like that and we will send you in email or bronco direct what you need to do”

“If you are a prospective student who has applied to any of the following majors: Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, a supplemental application is required by these departments. The department will contact you regarding the application and any related procedures.”

^From BroncoDirect

I was never contacted about it either so I dunno; I know my friend had to do it last year and he was contacted in January about it (He got in).

whats your major/gpa? I’m pretty sure way less ppl applied last year compared to this year as more ppl are applying for backups. i just hope most of em dont end up going…

For freshmen, last year there were 23,943 applicants to Cal Poly Pomona and this year there are 27,929. There are also 9992 transfer students that applied this year and 9936 and applied last year. Definitely a few thousand more freshmen applicants.

These are last year’s admission statistics. They accepted almost half of the people who applied (combined, I think).

We have to consider that there are people who got acce

pted whO aren’t going to attend Cpp… What are the stats of that? It leaves room for those in the waiting list. Sorry for double post. I can’t fix it on mobile :/

I checked my mail just now(havent checked for a week) and i got an email that said i was on the waitlist. What do i do now? Do i have to send them a letter or a phone call to let them know that i want to be on the wait list?

EDIT:

Just want to know if anyone knows… how many people do get accepted from the wait list?

Sometimes as high as 30% get accepted from the waitlist. However, it all depends on how many reject the school utimately.

As for the medical prfession, the UC’s win hands down…
of course, Cal Poly SLO is one exception!!! You win on that one!

I’m going to reject the school…once in high school and once again in cc. poor cal poly pomona…
I hope one of you guys get my spot. CCP notified me 3 days before the May 1st deadline. :o
So I couldn’t make a clear decision whether to go there or not.

Sadfool where r u going?

Annieoak how do u know 30% get off the waitlist?

Sent from my Desire HD using CC

I went to visit and its a lot smaller then I thought

AnnieOak, UC’s offer a great education but to simply say that they are the best overall for someone is not. Medical school will cost a lot. My brother’s friends ended up going to CSUN while he went to UCLA and they did just fine getting into Harvard from there while he ended up going to Princeton. It can help but it isn’t going to hurt you all that much to not attend a UC if your goal is to go to grad school.

I think getting into a place like UCLA would be a huge advantage to someone provided they do very well at UCLA for medical school. If you go to UCLA though and end up at CSU Fullerton for graduate school, I don’t think that’s a good thing…

Go to a UC if you want to go on to medical school. Other than that, it’s not going to matter much. Someone who gets a 2.8, 3.0, or a 3.4 at UC Berkeley is not going to have a better chance than someone who gets a 3.7 at Cal Poly Pomona at getting into grad school. I think that saying they got the same GRE scores and same GPA, it would boil down to other factors such as their SOP, not really prestige of the school. But I do know that you are expected to perform at your best at a Cal State.

Sister is also a transfer student and got accepted to UCLA, UC Berkeley, etc. She is probably going to end up at a Cal State though because we’re in that situation where we’re not exactly poor but not exactly rich either. 100K ish yet my dad is on strike right now and they’re waist deep in debt. I think she’ll end up at CSU Long Beach. I definitely don’t think that’s going to prevent her from getting into a top college for medical school if she doesn’t mess up in the next two years.

Caldud, UC’s offer a great education for those that go into the medical field. They hire their own, plain and simple. That alone is wonderful.
I am product of the CSU system and have done very well, however, I would have done better coming from another school!

CPP is a great place to start. Education was different in my day. Today, you have to take the opportunity. If it is CPP, take it. If you have a choice, weigh the pros and cons.

I understand the CC route is not going to be great in the future. Hopefully they accept all of you, my daughter included!!! It would be the best place for her, she is not a UC kid but yet worthy of a good education nevertheless…!!!

Good luck to us all!

I’ve decided that I cannot just bank my efforts in CPP. I applied for CPP for Aerospace Engineering, never received the supplemental application, so I know that something’s definitely wrong. Either I didn’t get accepted or they’re just gonna say my application was withdrawn. AGAIN.

However, there is good news for me. I also applied to Art Center College of Design and Art Institute of California. It’s good news because I’ve been drawing almost my entire life, and if anything, if I get into Art Center College, I most definitely won’t get bored of the major I applied for, which is, Transportation Design. I have friends that attend Art Institute of California - Los Angeles, and they can give me a clue.

Well, my last resort option is UNLV. And that’s because my parents have a house out there and I have the highest chances of getting accepted there thanks to its 80% admission rate. That’s a last resort option and I’d rather not go there. I’m hoping it’s Art Center College of Design, Art Institute of California, or, most of all, Cal Poly Pomona. I hope it’s one of the three.
